Inter has finally landed its man after a protracted transfer saga that dragged on much too long for Nerazzurri supporters.
Yann M'Vila took part in his first training session with the Italian club on Tuesday after the proper paperwork was finally sent over by Rubin Kazan.
The Beneamata have found their replacement for Esteban Cambiasso, which is a refreshing departure from the panic purchases late in the summer from our previous transfer regime.
Hopefully, this is a trend that will continue for the foreseeable future, but more importantly M'Vila's arrival will thankfully put to rest the rumours linking Valon Behrami to the club.
There are some question marks surrounding the 24-year-old's character, which is a bit disconcerting, but I'm just happy to have a young, potentially world-class defensive midfielder in our ranks.
So without any further ado let's welcome the French international to San Siro with open arms.
VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO STAR
COST
It's reportedly a season-long loan deal with an option to purchase next summer. More details to follow...
STRENGTHS
M'Vila is your prototypical tough tackling defensive midfielder. He has a non-stop engine and is adept at disrupting his opponents rhythm. He's aggressive but not too overbearing and is a good passer. Has all the tools to be a star, if he can stay focused.
WEAKNESSES
The 24-year-old is immature and has a poor attitude, which has landed him in hot water on more than one occasion (more on that later). He also lost his place in Rubin's starting XI and has a growing reputation as an underachiever.
REMINDS ME OF...
Patrick Vieira. A lofty comparison for sure, but M'Vila adds a physical dimension in midfield without sacrificing any technical ability. He is not afraid to get down and dirty, but also has the skill to pick out teammates from deep positions with pinpoint accuracy. Can be a driving force with the ability to dictate the pace of play when he's in the mood. Backs down from no one.
BORN TO PLAY FOR INTER
See above. He's a classic boom or bust type of signing, which Inter is infamous for.
HATERS GONNA HATE
The naysayers will be quick to point out that he was suspended one match for refusing to acknowledge Olivier Giroud and spurning Laurent Blanc's offer for a handshake when he was substituted during a match at Euro 2012. They will bring up the fact that he was then slapped with an 18-month ban for partying in Paris while on U-21 duty in November of the same year.
This might sound a little worrying, but we have heard this before. Critics exclaimed that Samuel Eto'o had a major attitude problem and predicted that he would tear the dressing room apart after his move to Inter was announced... and we all know how that worked out.
NICKNAME
Yann the Man, the Ghost-Face M'Vila. Yanni. That should do for now.
PREDICTED OUTPUT
Thirty-five Serie A appearances with another handful in the Europa League, depending on how far the Nerazzurri advance in the competition. Not expecting any goals, but one or two would be a bonus.
