The Last Gasp: Coppa and other news

By: Johonna | May 21st, 2008

I suppose we should stop swanning around with our heads in the clouds and get back down to business.

The team is back in training for this Saturday’s match at the Olimpico in Rome against Roma.

back to training

While Inter have not posted any news about the upcoming squad, we know neither Cruz nor Materazzi will be there. They are both out due to suspension. I suspect Mancini will call up some of our Primavera players, Toldo, and Suazo. At least that is what the training photos show. We will know more later in the week.

It is clear that Roma are going to throw every little thing they have at this game in some hope to salvage their pride. I am feeling very magnanimous after our Scudetto win – and a part of me says let Roma have the Coppa Italia. We dont need it and the win will make them feel good about themselves. But then I think again, and the fact is, I want it. I want to win. I think we will give some our players who dont see the field so often a chance to shine. Hopefully they will shine bright enough. We will know more when the quad is announced.

In other news, Inter will be getting “revolutionary” new jerseys next year.

Ok, so the first jersey will have large vertical bands with a blue stripe in the center, an external collar, and the “Pirelli” will be in Gold (like our special centenary shirt, I think).

The keeper’s kit will remain the same.

new kitThe second jersey will be brown, or “chocolate” as requested by Pirelli. The shorts will also be brown. Yikes. I managed to find this picture (Thank you Pazza Inter Forums). I hope Tronchetti paid enormous stacks of money for this because I can hear the shit jokes already.

The main question is, WHAT ARE THEY THINKING!?! The white with red cross is sooooo much better. Well, the team has not officially announced them on the site, so hopefully this away jersey is just a rough draft. blech.

The transfer speculations are starting to ramp up. Eto’o wants only Inter, and Barca wants Chivu and maybe Materazzi.

Porto wants Solari, and I think they can have him. He is not a bad player, he just has not really worked out at Inter. He is also apparently linked to Roma and Zenit St. Petersburg.

Then there is Lampard, who we are apparently “looking at”. Moratti is being cagey.

We still dont know if Mancini will stay. I suspect the decision will not be officially announced until after the game on Saturday. Mancini’s agent says he is staying, but the British press are still linking him to Chelsea so who knows. Once again, Moratti is being cagey.

Alright.

So lets get our heads back into it for this weekend. After that we can talk about transfers and what not.

I know you all have things to do this summer (Euros, the beach), but I hope you will check back here occasionally. I plan to follow all the transfers and everyone who plays for their national teams and I will dutifully report what I find.

Oh, and here is the new(ish) Nike commercial with Zlatan and Marco (among others). I am sure most of you have seen it, but I like it so here you go again:

So, onward to the Coppa.

Ciao ciao Ragazzi, ci vediamo a presto

    Marketing….

Folks, he’s telling you that he’s a bullshit artist.

I love the fact that there are those that think that Inter was “helped” by officials. We had, what, 10 or 11 red cards against? If we were buying refs how did these people get sent off? If we were buying refs, how did we lose to Milan when the Scudetto was ours to win. If we WERE buying refs, that would be a ref to buy, no? Or the game against Sienena? Why would we wait until the end of the season, and only make a scoring opportunity 30 or 40 minutes from the end. I think that it’s funny that the final score is in doubt, you know when one of the best strikers in Europe entered the game against a crappy team that faces demotion. Yeah, who saw that coming…

I don’t watch too many Roma games, I have better things to laugh at (I did catch Lazio/Roma, I think a defence might be in order at some point…), but I saw a lot of help from the ref for Roma in the final game of the season. I saw at least two booking offences that went WITHOUT A WHISTLE.

By the way, Materazzi didn’t foul anyone. He was in front of the player and in position to make a play, which he did. To think otherwise is to be a sucker for the media, trying to spike ratings for a foregone conclusion.

    Laugh @ Roma matches?

Funny how the whole of Europe prasied us for our free flowing play.

Were you laughing because you finally saw how football should be played?

Sorry but you have no room to diss Roma like we are some mid table team.

We play some of the most beautiful football in all of the world.

Ask Wenger, Ancelotti, Mourinho, Ferguson… Shall I go on?

    Punta basta.

So English coaches (I have yet to see a quote. Maybe you can go to the Roma page and discuss it there, because I really don’t care what they say. Until they coach in Serie A they are not in my world.) like Romas “play”. Maybe you should watch/discuss them and leave us alone as so many here have asked.

Didn’t Ancelotti call Inter the best team in Serie a? Maybe he’s just a generous guy….

There are a lot of things that pay the bills. There are a lot of people that pay them too. Not every one has to spread bullshit to do it.

And there is no reason to thank me. I don’t suppport you or your employment in any way.

Thank you Ursus for that quote. I especially like the Joy and Respect part.
That is exactly how I feel. I know it is hard – fans are passionate as are players, but I believe you can love your team without hating the others. I know I poke fun at Juve and Milan and Roma, but that is just it – fun. I dont hate the teams or any of their players or any of their fans.

So, lets have a great game tomorrow. I will get a preview up tonight.

    Ha!

    Vaffanculo cazzo.

    What do you do?

    I am an aspiring producer/writer/musician.

I work @ Vogue doing International Fashion Marketing.

Explain to me how that is bogus and or bullshit?? I get paid pretty fucking well, and deal with big time clients.

    Next?

I have 4 tracks to Cee Lo, 2 to Chamillinaire, and a few to Trey Songz. I tour with this kid http://www.myspace.com/alexnackman, and I work for a guy who writes music for ABC, NBC, and ESPN.

This may sound bogus to you, seeing as this is a blog, but I tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

There are alot of things that pay bills, so do tell me what you do?

For someone that doesn’t care what I think, you certainly do swear at me lot. More bullshit? Of course, I notice that you do it on the internet. My personal space seems to be free of someone swearing at me.

By the way, you are still not impressing me. The fact that you are paid well for passing crap, makes me laugh even harder. My opinon of humanity has been further validated. Kind of like American Idol appearing in newspapers like it matters…

Do us all a favor and go back to your “big time clients” and stay there. I am sure they appreciate your shit more than people around here do, if the messages on this blog are any measure.

In fact, all you are doing is making my day brighter. I haven’t stoppped laughing since I posted on here today.

Is it just me does it look like Toldo is starting? Is this a sign that Coppa is not considered too important to Inter, as was suggested earlier?

    Just for fun:

You do not earn points for style in football. you earn points for winning. I hate when poeple throw that arguement around. ATTRACTIVE FOOTBALL.. HA. Nothing is more atractive than winning in sports. You never look good losing…. just saying.

Stefan and Daniele, the only reason Roma celebrates the Coppa is because they didn’t get any other silverware. Trust me, if Juve won it this year I’d be celebrating, but that doesn’t change the fact it’s a mickey mouse cup.

Inter fans just admit you got lucky this season. You did win the scudetto but ROMA was obviously the BETTER TEAM. If you dont believe that you must be as blind as most of the referees you had this season. Please do Italy a favor and actually acquire italan players. It really is a sad thing when some of you inter fans put down the english league for the problems they have, yet inter spends the most money, has only 1 italian starter and plays one boring ass game style. Oh and you got kicked out of europe by an english team, thanks to the only italian in inter. Enjoy your trophy this year but next season with strengthend JUVE, MILAN, ROMA, VIOLA, NAPOLI, and even SAMP/UDINE inter is gonna be kicked back to where it belongs, UEFA CUP.

According to Goal.com Jose signs on monday to be Inter’s boss. I wonder if that’s really going to happen and what it means to the rest of the team.

I love how fans of other teams feel like they have some right to tell us how to root for our own team (”Inter fans just admit you got lucky this season.”) and how to run our team (”Please do Italy a favor and actually acquire ‘italan’ player” [SIC]). Usually this is followed up with a comment about how arrogant we are. I laughed a long time on this one.

They then manage to some how come up with “logic” so funny, it makes my sides hurt (”You did win the scudetto but ROMA was obviously the BETTER TEAM”).

Could some explain to me how a championship based on crowning the BEST TEAM FOR THE SEASON didn’t actually win the championship? Folks, here’s the news: If Roma were the best team throughout the season, they would have won the tricolor. End of story. Notice how I injected no opinion there? Just facts. I encourage everyone to try that sometime.

“MAD = A waste of time.” Well if I am a waste of time then…

    A. …why are you still here? I would expect that you would spend your time more productively than to hang out here. Here’s a suggestion, why not go running to some of your “high profile clients”, and pay some more bills or something.

    B. … I guess it doesn’t matter what I do, does it.

Ya, I read that thing about Jose too. I just would not put a lot of stock in supposed leaked text messages. Besides, it just seems like a dumb thing to do – writing:

“Michael, you have been great. On Monday I am going to Milan to sign a contract with Inter. I hope that, one day, you will be at Inter too.”

It just seems too high-school girl to me. I suppose we will all see on Monday.
