Buena Suerte y Gracias por Todo, El Jardinero

By: Johonna | June 30th, 2009

Thanks for everything, Cruz
Well, it is official, today was the last day of Julio Ricardo Cruz’s contract. As of July 1, he will no longer be an Inter player.

This is sort of a bittersweet moment for me: sure, he wasn’t always there for us last season, but, over the course of the last six years, he has been an integral part of the squad. When Ibra was down for the count, he practically hauled us over that finish line. Even last season, his 3 goals netted us 4 points in the championship and kept us in the Champions League.

Since 2003, he has scored 75 goals in 195 appearances.

He has come off the bench and saved Inter’s day more times than I can count. El Jardinero grew goals out of nothing. I will miss him. If he stays in the Serie A, I have not one single doubt he will score a goal on us.

It is the end of an era. Thanks for everything and good luck.

GRAZIE CRUZ

Aww sorry Johonna, it’s never my intention to make anyone upset!

You know, hopefully Milito will be as pivitol and important for us as Cruz had been. I am optimistic about that!

Milan supporter here, but I can tell you I never looked forward to seeing Julio Cruz on the field. Always had a knack of scoring spectacular goals out of nowhere. Best of luck to him wherever he goes.

wow real just bought benzema too…saw it on bs.com but then checked the lyon website and it’s official. we really should buy some real players…they must be going cheap. higuain, schneider, van der vart, and even huntelaar are some i would be pretty excited about.

14 million for old Deco and Carvalho? That would be very stupid. Can we just Cassano and be done with it? we’re still missing that one key player for CL success.

Alessandro, I know it was probably just a typo, but I just LOVE that you used Cassano as a verb.

    To Cassano… (Cassanare?)

Dont worry Alessio, Balotelli will be our new “Juve Killer.”

He already has a bit of practice at that.

Haha Johonna, that was definitely a typo but I wouldn’t mind if Moratti did a little bit of cassanare soon.

    Arrivederci Julio.

Oh, and Real are just getting out of control with this shit. We need to get some players in here, fast. Before Perez buys them all….

All great teams need to be built around a great defense. Madrid is sans defense. If their billion $ attack ever loses possession, opponents can hit them hard on the counter.

Well, Inter are ready to find the alternatives if the Deco-Carvalho deal is not going through. Apparently Inter are going after Hazard-Gallas if Chelsea don’t drop the price of 14 million for both of their players.

I much prefer Carvalho but if it was up to me I would do the Hazard-Gallas deal in a heart beat.

Also about Arnautovic, the problems is that Twente want Inter to pay 3 million first and the rest later if Inter want to keep Arnautovic on a permanent deal and Inter refuse to pay anything before knowing how serious the injury is.

Hazard looks like a nifty player.

Gallas, I don’t really know, nor have I any fondness for him.

So, I am sitting here watching Real: The movie (thank you netflix) and it is such a trip. It was made in 2004 so there is Samuel and Figo and Ronaldo (our Ronaldo).

    Sigh. I miss Figo already.

Birmingham has offered giant wads of cash to Vieira:

PATRICK VIEIRA has been given a final £100,000-a-week offer by Birmingham.

Brum will pay the former Arsenal star £5.2million a year but Vieira, 33, is reluctant to move to St Andrew’s.

Why wont he just GO already???

    Either Denial or Ego, Johonna.

here is a guy that, since 1995, has played at big clubs. He has won deomestic titles, won a world cup, won a european cup and won a confederations cup.

I am sure the $ is not he issue but rather the place.

He either thinks he is too good to play for Birmingham City a newly promoted team to the Prem or really thinks he is still good enough to compete for major titles at a big clubs.

Someone needs to sit him and down and say, “Patrick, don’t be stupid! Take the playing time and the cash and enjoy the twilight of your career at Birmingham City! Its win/win for you.”

That alone should either make him realize he actually is past it or get him to take his head out of his arse!

Paolo’s right. Even if he’s been downright miserable for us (and Juventus), there’s no denying he’s one of the best central midfielders of his generation.

If I were to advise Vieira, I would tell him to take a lower wage and go to Lyon to win the French league and play in the Champions League than go to Birmingham city and fight relegation.

listen up boys and girls we need to get rid of rivas, burdoosa, viera, cruz, matterazi, figo, dacourt, maxwell, macini and crespo that is 10 players and bring in 2 of our players who are at loan last season. we definatley need our tradion of getting the world greatest players to play for us like ronaldinio which mourinio can can bring him back to do his magic and the others players we need are calvalio, eto, cassano, da silva and abidal to dominate europe again.
