And Low, The Beast is Vanquised: Inter 1-0 Juve

By: Johonna | November 22nd, 2008

WOOO HOOO!
So what do you know, we finally beat them! True, Ibra missed a couple of sitters (sigh), but I believe that Inter controlled the game in the midfield and shut down their attack. There was one hairy moment from a Del Piero header, but Julio Cesar had it covered.
MATRIXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Marco picked up a yellow, as did Samuel, but they did their job and cleared the lines. I am glad that Matrix got to play in this important game – he has his shortcomings but no one can say he is not Inter through and through. One more clean sheet! Amauri, pink Nikes or no, didn’t really have a chance all night. Besides, Marco looks much better in them.

Poor Amauri. No goals for you.

Muntari’s goal may have been awkward, but it showed a spirit that I applaud. We play to the whistle – every play, every game. Grazie Muntari.Muntari scores the winning goal.

This win takes us to 30 points – that is 4 clear at the top. Plus, we have a huge boost to our confidence ahead of Panathinaikos.

Bravo Ragazzi. FORZA INTER

Oh Ursus, I am just trying to eek out every little bit of joy I can out of this win. I know we were not as good as 8.5, but, but still, we may not beat Juve again for another 3 years. I need to take it while I can!

Well, this is probably going to get you even more upset, but I would side with Pat on the Kaka “debate”. In part I think that’s because no one here takes the “Jesus Loves You” stuff seriously.

Ambrosini is an odious little sh*t. Kaka is quality.

I am not upset. I think Kaka is a talented player. My issues with the guy are totally personal. He just rubs my fur backwards.

And I bet I wouldn’t dislike him so much if I got to know him better – as a player, that is.

Maybe I will watch more Brazil games.

“He just rubs my fur backwards.”

I was about to comment, but I’m just gonna let that one go :)

Inter, to this point, has surprised me. Prior to the season, I predicted Inter to finish 2nd. My reasoning was I thought Inter would expend their resources solely into the UCL. Hence, bringing in Mourhino. Regardless, I might still be right, but up to this point, Inter has played the best

“Shouldn’t he be better than that? I mean, if the image is true?”

So just because he believes in Jesus and tries to emulate him means that he isnt allowed to step out of line every now and again.

Its funny that just because Kaka tries to set a higher standard for himself he is criticised for it more than others.

If this was that drunk Adriano or that dirty Materazzi no one would care it would just be same old.

Im glad Kaka tries to promote a clean image even if i dont share his beliefs, i wish more footballers would do the same.

Anyway, thats probably enough on Kaka, especially considering this is the Inter blog :)

    This is TOTALLY off topic:

The far-right Movimento Sociale-Fiamma Tricolore (MS-FT) party is offering 1,500 euros to parents who name their children after Benito Mussolini or his wife, Rachele. The cash is available in five areas of southern Italy and is supposedly to help the region’s low birth rate.
The party says the choice of names is what it called “purely casual,” and that that the names Benito and Rachele are merely “nice.” Also, the party says there are no racist undertones but insists at least one parent is Italian.

Pat, people that set higher standards for themselves are held to those standards, that’s all. And for all of Marco’s “dirtiness,” he is actually a pretty clean-living family man. He is just a bad tackler.

… says the person who cheered Georgio’s repeated clocking of Ibra in the head last season…

If I may be off topic for a sec, I am very upset and worried about what I have read is happening to my Pescara.

Apparently the players showed some heart this weekend and played for the club (and the city) even though they haven’t been paid in a while. I fell that it’s pretty distressing that there are clubs in Italy that are in this kind of trouble.

I know that last season a long supported club folded (I think it was Messina but I don’t trust my memory), but I would distressed if Pescara, once a Serie A team ( We had Dunga!), were to follow this path. :(

And Johonna, I think that the Benito and Rachele thing is funny in a “Children of the Corn” kind of way.

Tuttomercato are still predicting that Nico will go to Fiorentina. With Rivas and Chivu out, I think we will keep him, though (unless we pick up someone better come Jan).

And yes, if he can consistently play like that, I prefer him to Nico.

Now that the English press love Inter and Mourinho again, there have been a new round of rumors circulating the, and I use this term lightly, newspapers.

Drogba to Inter for Adriano– I just don’t see the allure of Drogba to Inter rumors. Scratch that, I don’t see the allure of Drogba.

Makoun to Inter– A Vieira-like midfielder. We could use midfield help, but if this team is missing something, in my opinion it’s missing a midfielder with imagination. We have ball winning midfielders who can pass up the ying-yang.

Xavi hernandez to Inter– I can understand this TYPE of rumor as it actually represents us taking care of a weakness, but spanish players in Italy…

    Crespo to Real– Please. Go.

“Gods” i love these stupid Sfinter supporters, how they make me laugh. Please, Cassano to Inter, you’ve already got that low-life prick junkie Adriano (of whom i’m praying doesn’t come over to the good half) and the “i can be arrogant unless i’m too busy being Chiellini’s bitch Ibra, how many more talented but completely fucked up players do you need?

This is from the preview of Inter-Panathinaikos on UEFA.com. Personally, I think that the Panathinaikos coach is high if he thinks that the 2-0 loss he suffered to us was “lucky” but he can have his opinions, as long as we have our wins.

    http://www.uefa.com/competitions/ucl/fixturesresults/round=15276/match=302755/report=pr.html

In the wake of Saturday’s superb victory at home to Juventus, FC Internazionale Milano coach José Mourinho fears his side could come back to earth with a bump as they return to the San Siro against Panathinaikos FC. “It’s not Panathinaikos I’m afraid of,” he said. “It’s us.”

Inter regained the Serie A summit with an impressive 1-0 defeat of Juve, Sulley Muntari’s goal being enough to edge a match his team dominated throughout. It means the UEFA Champions League Group B leaders have still lost only once in all competitions this term, yet Mourinho has not forgotten the poor run of form that followed last month’s 4-0 win at AS Roma.

In fact, were Anorthosis Famagusta FC and Werder Bremen to draw the other game in the group, Inter would advance even in defeat, but Mourinho’s message is clear: “It’s not Panathinaikos I’m afraid of, it’s us. I’m not scared to say that we’re a better team. We come from a different reality to theirs. The Greek league is not as good as Serie A and Inter want to win the Champions League – Panathinaikos do not. But great motivation can work miracles and a lack of motivation can create nightmares.”

Panathinaikos are intent on causing another shock after surprising Werder Bremen three weeks ago with their first away win in the competition in five years. That 3-0 victory lifted them into third place, four points behind Inter, and Panathinaikos coach Henk Ten Cate is determined to get one over the Italian outfit after Inter’s 2-0 Matchday 1 triumph in Athens – a result he described as “lucky”.
