Atalantian Punishment and Coppa Redemption

By: Johonna | January 20th, 2009

We suckAlright, so we lost. No, not just lost, we were soundly spanked. Atalanta kicked our collective butts to the tune of 3-1. It happens and there is no use crying over it. Hopefully, the squad has learned something from the loss and will be much improved against Roma in the Coppa game tomorrow. I have yet to watch the whole game – I couldn’t get past the first half and those 3 goals in 20 minutes. We did manage to pull one back I hear, but man, it was brutal. Worse yet, there goes our goal differential.

For those of you interested in horror films, here are the highlights.

WHAT WENT WRONG

Well, if you believe the players, Mourinho, and Moratti, just about everything.

For Julio Cesar, it was a sad day: “We made a slow start and we were below par. Del Neri’s team played much better than us and we have to admit that they deserved the victory.”

Cordoba’s take on the game is much like my own. He said: “Atalanta played a lot better than us. They played off by heart and this caused problems for us. It was a terrible day and we have to learn from our mistakes so we don’t repeat them, and look ahead… We play again on Wednesday and we’ll have to play an excellent match against Roma to get back our game and morale.”

Moratti flat out blamed Mourinho: “I don’t think it is possible to see a worse Inter than the one we saw yesterday. Mourinho makes the choices that he wants and we support him. He decided everything, even on the winter preparation…”

For his part, Mourinho agrees, it is all his fault: “..this result is our fault. I have broad shoulders and I prefer the criticism to fall on me rather than on my players… If we talk about today’s match I confess that the coach is the face of his team, the only person responsible for the defeats. We played our worst match of the season. I’m the coach, I’m not touchy, and I’m open to any type of criticism.”

So there you go, criticize away.

But that is the past, now we have another game to think about.

COPPA ITALIA QUARTERFINAL

What: Inter V Roma
Where: San Siro, Milan
When: Wednesday, Jan 21, 8:45pm local (11:45am pacific, 2:45pm eastern).
How to Watch: GolTV has the rights so check your schedule. Try a stream from here or here.

Mourinho has made his call-ups for the game:

Goalkeepers: Toldo, Julio Cesar, Belec.
Defenders: Maicon, Burdisso, Rivas, Samuel, Chivu, Santon.
Midfielders: Zanetti, Stankovic, Figo, Cambiasso, Muntari, Mancini, Quaresma.
Strikers: Ibrahimovic, Adriano, Balotelli.

Much as I thought, Quaresma, Mancini and Balotelli are on the list. I am sure that Balotelli will get some pitch time, but I am just not sure how to work Quaresma or Mancini in.

As for the line-up, Mou says:
“The group on the pitch will be the same as in the last matches, the one I consider the strongest possible, and Ibrahimovic, Zanetti, Muntari, Cambiasso and Maicon will definitely play.”

Note that Cordoba and Maxwell are both off the list. I guess this means a start for Chivu in defense and Samuel will pair with Burdisso in the center. I still cant remember if Rivas is any good. In front, I think Adriano will start, but that Balotelli will play. Whether he plays well is a different story.

Ok, so to wrap up, Inter has looked into gaping maw of mediocrity and I hope it scared the pants off them. Sunday’s game will have to be the “what not to do” for the rest of the season. Roma are a good team and will be difficult to beat. Not that we cant, but certainly they will be fighting tooth and nail. I will hope for a positive result, but I am much more focused on the league this season. The darkness that is Juventus is beginning to close in and the tiny prick of light our 3 points represent may not be enough to hold it back.

Still, even in the face of defeat

FORZA INTER

And congratulations to Ibra who won 3 Calcio Oscars: best player, best foreign player and best goal in 2008! He still needs to do something with his hair, though.
And the oscar goes to...

  • Gregor,
Mourinho is suing the blogger who published his alleged rant after the game last week. The blogger has since posted a retraction saying that he made it up, but Mou is suing him anyway.

Skyder, I just put it up.

  • gregor

Come on! Gila monster why can't you just stay onsides and put the damn ball in the goal!

  • skyder

Fiorentina is not the same without Mutu... I wonder what the conspiracy theorists will come up with in regards to the 2 controversial calls in the first half that went Juve's way.

No matter - more importantly, where's the Inter-Samp link, Jo?

  • gregor he's talking about the quote from the Corriere Dello Sport about his rant about Inter's 2/3 scudetti of recent years.

  • gregor

Ohhh.... That goal should have been allowed, Gilardino was not offsides :D

  • gregor

Ohh God, Fiorentina got so close to equalizing with Juve just now...

  • gregor

    (From the interview with Mourinho)
Do you prefer to talk about eveything that has happened in the week, or you prefer to forget about it?

"I won't talk. My lawyer will talk. I will when it's my turn, in the court. I don't know if the Italian judiciary procedure is quick or not, if it's two months or two years. I just know that I would like to talk in the court tomorrow..."

What the hell is he talking about??

  • Brian

i think his surgery threw him off a bit. im sure he will eventually get back to form. hopefully not until next year tho.

  • Dave

I watched some of that game and Tevez seemed like the best player on the pitch. Ronaldo and Berbatov didnt seem to be doing much.

Ive seen a lot of Man U this season and Ronaldo isnt close to what he was last year. But with our luck he'll hit top form by Feb 24

  • Brian

i am watching the man u tottenham game waiting for juve to start and i would love to see tevez playing for inter. he is a ball of energy, hustling trying to win back the ball when he loses it. and from what i hear he has been threatening all game. inter can definitely use him.

  • Ok. I am writing a preview now.

The CL games will all have separate entries. I think there is a CL area on the Offside, though. They may have something up.

  • Kabir, he's been officially ruled out via Samp's website.

  • MAD

For some reason Alessio, the English think that Burdisso is hot shit.

We, here, would be glad to let them see him weekly, I think.

  • Paolo

Kabir, there are conflicting reports on whether he will play or not. To be honest, it does not matter. In training, Inter should have preapared for a Samp Line up that includes him and they should have also spent a litle time discussing what will change if he is not featured.

Inter should be ready either way.

  • Kabir

Does anyone know if cassano is in the Samp squad? Goal.com says he's doubtful

  • I should have said 4 goals in the league.

  • Total side note....I'm in the 3rd year of my current FM game, spent 2 with Bari and jumped to Juve. It's April, and Inter have conceded 4 goals all season. With Burdisso as a constant in the backline. What. the. fuck.

  • MAD

TMW reports that there is strife between Maxwell and the club regarding his contract. According to rumors, Maxwell is starting to look around and is honing in on Real Madrid.

In other rumors, Iaquinta apparently has finally come to his senses and decided that languishing on the bench at Juve is worse than playing elsewhere (even Russia?). Honestly, this guy is a National Teamer... Has there been a worse decision for a player that could find playing time or start on just about any of 17 Serie A teams to just ride the bench for 2 years (33 apps mostly as a sub.)?

This guy would have been on a pedestal at clubs like Napoli, Palermo, (maybe even Fiorentina?) or Samp where they are starving for an out and out striker. Why would he go and become one of the sad squad faces at any of the Big Three Teams, I couldn't tell you.

As always, all rumors should be taken with a chuckle and wry smile.

  • MAD

Mourinho names squad for tomorrow. Still no Balotelli. No Obinna. Santon gets a reward for playing well against Roma. Hopefully it sends a message about production and playing time. Maybe 4-3-3?

Goalkeepers: 1 Francesco Toldo, 12 Julio Cesar, 22 Paolo Orlandoni.

Defenders: 2 Ivan Cordoba, 6 Maxwell, 13 Maicon, 25 Walter Samuel, 26 Cristian Chivu, 39 Davide Santon.

Midfielders: 4 Javier Zanetti, 5 Dejan Stankovic, 7 Luis Figo, 19 Esteban Cambiasso, 20 Sulley Muntari, 33 Amantino Mancini, 77 Ricardo Quaresma.

Strikers: 10 Adriano, 9 Julio Cruz, 18 Hernan Crespo.

  • Alishki

Hey Johonna. Have you guys started the CL discussions anywhere yet or are you having a separate entry for that?...

  • E

Im with you gents I too hope Quaresma stays he has a lot of potential and is only 25 hopefully inter is gonna be willing to be as patient as we are with him

    FORZA INTER!!!

  • Brian

yeah mancini can go. i think quaresma will settle down eventually. he will be fine by next year. he has the talent and we havent heard any kind of dissent from him, unlike another summer purchase.

  • Dave

Looks like we got a nice list going. Lets hope at least one of em is with us next year.

Quaresma has been such a let down. Hopefully he's just struggling in a new country and he'll eventually settle. Mancini has no excuse

  • MAD

Quaresma is hard to give up on because you can see that he should just bust out and be fantastic. He just has to get that talent out and onto the field.

I'd be very okay with Montolivo

    so...

    Montolivo
    Rosina
    Ledesma
    Santacroce
    Maggio

I'll add Cigarini to that list.

  • Dave

Speaking of a midfieder, Im really impressed with Montolivo. I'll have to add him to the wishlist along with Hamsik and Rosina.

I agree gregor, Mancini can go. Im still not giving up on Quaresma though. Dont ask me why

  • gregor

So, how about Mancini's recent comments concerning his playing time at Inter? Seems like isn't very happy as of late. I'm surprised we havn't heard anything like this from Quaresma. He really has been a trooper these past few months. It's too bad that our two star signings are unnecessary but hey, if Mancini wants out, why not? Why not make a trade for a budding Y-O-U-N-G striker or midfielder?

  • Dave

I also heard Cassano isnt 100% but he'll probably play. He scares me

How did Q get that many bookings? He must be the leader in yellows per 90 min

  • MAD

Disciplinary jazz for Inter v Samp. I think we are all aware that Ibra is out this game. But we have two players who are 1 caution away from disqualification:

    Cautioned: Balotelli, Quaresma.
    Disqualified: Ibrahimovic.

Samp has 4 players that are 1 caution away from disqualification. Hopefully that means that they will be playing a little soft - or not at all.

  • lamagica

    http://www.juventusworld.com/w...

looks like you already have that trophy...lol!

  • Dave

    I agree about Nico

I always held out hope that Vieira would come through . . .

Mabye if he's serious about retiring from France?

    Nah, you're probably right

  • Alessandro

burdisso needs to be sold immediately. as well as cripple vieira - waste of money.

  • Alessandro

hahaha. lamagica just hasn't had enough. give it up buddy you're just gonna get drilled everytime you comment here.

  • MAD

Any combination of the back that does not include Burdisso us fine with me

  • MAD

or maybe it looks like this:

    http://www.awardauthority.com/...

Johonna, we have got to use this image for something, I almost hurt myself looking at it.

  • Dave

I think our backline against Samp will be Maicon, Cordoba, Samuel and Chivu. This is our strongest defense in my opinion.

Against Cagliari Maicon was suspended, Cordoba was taken off after 45 due to injury, and Samuel took a pretty bad knock to the head.

In Bergamo we had to play Nico and Chivu was forced to play in midfield.

With Ibra suspended lets hope we can keep a clean sheet. I should probably have more confidence in our strikers, but I dont.

  • Paolo

    HAHA LMAO!

  • Kasia

I sure hope that Ibra won't do what Cristiano Ronaldo did with his fancy new machine...

  • lamagica

no, that was a serious question...simply because interisti seem to have a peculiar way of interpreting things. i mean, technically, it isnt exactly the same topic...lol.

  • What do you think, lamagica? I am assuming that was rhetorical because I am sure you know the answer already.

Looks like Ibra has a new ride:
    http://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/...

A ginormous harley. He better not crash the thing!

would talking about all the favourable calls inter received last season too count as a "new topic"?

    My bad

  • Absolutely Alex.

Thank you for changing the subject!

Excellent Post Gio. Maybe you should just worry about Roma who...

    1. Is shit
    2. Is in 8th place
    3. Is supported by the biggest, saddest clowns on the planet.
    4. Will never run out of excuses no matter how lame or absurd.
    5. Will lose to Napoli
    6. Will not be filling the gaping holes in the trophy case this year
    7. won't be playing in champions league in '09/'10
    8. will be crippled from the lack of badly needed revenue you receive by playing in the champions league.
    9. Will hopefully be in Serie B by '10/'11

    :D

K fun & games are over, you people are becoming more boring & lame than ususal. Case in point... Daniele!

  • alex

one more point though doesnt ibrahimovic look like a big vulture? and that hair is brutal

  • Daniele

    *wear

  • Daniele

    I like Inter.
    They where black and blue.
    MAD likes goats.
    They make milk.
    And cheese too.

  • Ok. Thats it. I am OVER IT. We will have to agree to disagree.

MOVE ON. Im am going to start deleting comments I think are pointlessly inflammatory. If your comment is gone, that is why.

If you all want to keep on, I suggest you talk to Daryl and get your own board. Really, I dont care, just take it elsewhere.

If you want to criticize Inter - Great! Just pick a different topic.

  • gio

... except, apparently the ONLY way Inter can win is by cheating.

it is not just coincidence that against Samp, Genova, Caglairi, and Atalanta you couldn't win ... it is just that you didn't think you needed to pay anyone off.

  • Paolo

HAHA, a day in the life of a Romanista:

    http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=...

  • alex

i believe its down too the refs own stupidity but sometimes i see decisions that do make me question any leagues integrity. especially when it comes to crazy offside decisions as that is the entire purpose of a linesman.
but i have too say out of all the leagues real madrid definitely cheat there can be no argument there its like juve pre calciopoli its just to blatant. as for juve and milan yes milan have had some terrible penalties and i remember the juve-palermo game, which palermo won but had too fight the referee for as he was giving insane decisions juves way.
its an argument that will go on for a hundred years more as refs are just simply the scum of the earth. as for roma they have poor attitude and a bad team spirit and they always collapse like minges. like tottenham in england. but you have to admit the ref has helped you win alot of games since calciopoli thats what people are angry at

  • MAD

"Wait, MAD, you have Goats? I LOVE goats!"

Yup. They keep the lawn trim and they limit the garbage overflow!

Plus, they lower the troll population under the neighborhood bridges, which is why there is no one who support Roma around here...

  • MAD

    More offside fun.

On the "home" page of the offsides Daryl and The Toothless One often post stories and whatever. Anyway, one of the stories is about Mourinho shouting at the players.

In the post, Daryl uses the word "scudettos". Which is fine. I don't really have all that much confidence in Daryl being able to be accurate in more things, let alone a language that isn't english.

However, in the comments section, there is at least one person there who is a regular on the Milan boards, I think, and he/she/it parrots the word, "scudettos".

You know the Milan boards, where they say we don't have enough Italians on the squad? It would be nice if they could actually say the plural of the prize they are chasing correctly though, eh?

Hint for the RomaBitches: it should end in an "i"

  • Wait, MAD, you have Goats? I LOVE goats!

    beep beep beep beep beep

The latest news from the Roma Offsides...

    beep beep beep beep beep

Vucinic DIDN'T handle the ball into the net!

    allow me to quote:

"even if you are right about Vuci’s hand hitting the ball (on which i disagree completely) …
if the ref could see that in the split second it took for his hand to touch (or not even touch) the ball, he should have also seen the even more obvious push on Vuci’s back by Burdisso … a.k.a. the biggest cheating defender in Serie A.

besides, if you are going down as fast as Vuci was, you do not have time to think about hitting the ball with you r hand, you just put it out as fast as you can so your face doesn’t suck grass.
easily a penalty against Burdisso three times over."

Everyone get that? Vucinic DIDN'T handle the ball into the net because he was going down so fast that he didn't have time to try to make contact...

Which I guess means that IF he DID handle the ball... he WASN'T going down to fast from a push and he was just diving.

Now be sure to pause this on 1:03 and take a good look what part of his body Vucinic hits the ball with. If it's his hand... then according to this RomaTroll, Vucinic was diving and he deserved what he got:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

Just for fun, pause it at 1:00 and see Vuci handle it to his feet when he was trying to chest it down. And then pause it at 1:02 to see Vuci handle it again as Burdisso hits the ball up and Vuci spreads his hands to corral the ball.

    Enjoy!

  • MAD

    Thank you, thank you.

The best part is that I didn't actually have to go over there and do anything.

Someone took a quote that I made here, and then posted it over there.

Then, they started with the impostor thing. Which did 2 things:

    1. It made my point that much stronger, which is that Chris is a joke.

    2. It is really funny to see the lengths that they will go to try to get my goat. They try so hard, it's really great.

In other words, they are doing my dirty work for me. I don't even have to be on the computer anymore! It's classic!

  • E

Ahahaha MAD really knows to get them worked up when I go overthere at their blog and talk trash no one gets pissed they laugh instead for some reason

  • Dave

lol just took a look over there, MAD. I didnt bother to count the number of imposters and insults . . . I had no idea you had such a following

  • E

    Well said johonna ,

According to most people what does inter , man utd and real madrid have in common ? They're all cheats
When what they really have in common is the fact that they're the dominant team in their respective leagues , the dominant force , be it a footy team , a country etc... always get hated on everybody tries to take them down and unfortunatly it doesn't look like that's gonna change any time soon

  • MAD

"You guys should start a blog devoted to MAD"

There is one Dave, it's called the Roma Offsides.

Go on over if you don't believe me.

    It's awesome!

    I am laughing myself piss-less!

  • MAD

I seem to remember Napoli-Juventus game last season that had an incredible number of errors. Is anyone complaining about that?

I remember Juve - Inter twice last season in which we dropped points in both games due to referee errors. The Juve people won't even admit that it happened.

How about Juve- Inter this year when we had 4, thats FOUR offsides called against when there wasn't any... and we had sprung the offside trap. Or when there was handling in the first 3 minutes of that game and the ref was too big of a pussy to call it.

I remember games that we dropped points last season as we were on our way to becoming the most red carded team in the league- many through referee errors. No said anything.

I remember 2 games last season where we dropped points after 2 goals were disallowed through referee error last season. No one said anything.

Milan has 8 points it shouldn't have this season through referee errors. No one is saying anything about it.

I remember in 1997 when Juve beat Inter through referee errors and we lost the League Championship because of it. No one is saying anything about that.

I remember in 2002 when the exact same thing happened again and we lost the League Championship. No one is saying anything about that.

"but just admit that you have been getting points through poor refereeing lets just make sure you can actually see that?"

Right after you and others admit that most teams have been getting points through poor refereeing. Can YOU actually see that?

And then ask yourself if that makes it okay for these people to come here and be assholes. And why we shouldn't return the favor.

But make sure to post it on my blog page first!

    :)

  • Except, Alex, that Inter is not the only team to win a game on a goal that should have been called offside but wasn't.

Also, they are not the only team that has benefited from either getting a penalty when some would say they should not have, or for not getting a penalty when they should have.

The only reason this looks skewed to Inter's favor is that they are at the top of the table so everyone wants to take them down.

When Cagliari beat Palermo on an offside goal there was no big outcry about cheating. Milan has been awarded a couple soft penalties this season - no cry about cheating.

Basically it looks like there is favoritism towards Inter for 2 reasons:
    1) everyone is watching for it. Scientifically speaking, you find what you look for. No one is scrutinizing the Chievo Napoli game for ref errors so it looks like there weren't any. They very well could have been. I didn't watch it, so who knows

    2) It sells media. Inter is one of the most popular Italian teams. People like to read about Inter. Significantly fewer people care if Lecce pick up an extra point due to a ref error. When it is Inter, people care. People also looooove a scandal. So there you go. Just because the sports media does not do a piece on how Siena should have 4 few points, doesn't mean that they shouldn't (as an example).

    So there you go.

  • E

Let me make myself clear tho
That's not why ASS roma lost wednesday or in our previous meetings , their fans just be coming up with all kinda analogy as to why they lose to us most of the time if they came to me I would sum it all up in two words for them "roma suck"

  • E

Alex we're all aware of that brother matter of fact I was just telling ASS roma fans the same thing , big teams have been , are and will always be getting favorable calls , is it fair ? No it aint , but that's just how it is

  • Dave

And another one about conspiracy theories

  • Dave

You guys should start a blog devoted to MAD

  • alex

im a napoli fan so i obviously think romani are just plain wankers but you have too admit that you do get some crazy decisions your way since calciopoli lets not lie about it. whether its bribing the refs or maybe the refs give decisions towards the big clubs so they will be able to officiate for them again due to the money they recieve i dont know.
but it happens in every league look at real madrid the biggest cheats in the world. and man utd of course. maybe its just the psychology behind officiating for big teams who hold alot of power and can determine your next job as a ref.
but just admit that you have been getting points through poor refereeing lets just make sure you can actually see that?

  • no-one is asking for you to be civil or reasonable, maddy paddy. no-one here expects the impossible. it's much like many a person that wishes you get testicular cancer but the fact that you have no balls makes it, again, impossible.

  • MAD

Kasia, I am not afraid to speak my mind. I have gotten nothing but insults and recriminations from Juve and Roma fans- with very few exceptions. That includes the bloggers like "Toothless Chris" who never spared a harsh word for Inter. Or it's fans. So I have no problem making my amusement as I see fit.

If wandered in here innocent as the driven snow, well, hey. Sometimes some people get it that don't deserve it. You wanna actually talk football, I can do that. That's all I can say about it.

  • Kasia

Well MAD, you seem to like rants and exchanging insults. Some people prefer the fans to bitch and rant on their own blogs.
So you don't care about calling someone an idiot without a provocation? Not very pleasant. I just wish you could save the insults for people who are insulting you.

  • adam

MAD, you know everything don't you.

  • MAD

Ooooo, booga booga. (Waving fingers theatrically and waggling eyebrows)

And Kasia, I'll be the judge of whether I think my behavior is fair or not, thanks. You don't like, you feel insulted, I don't think I care too much. You'll note perhaps that I haven't complained about other people invading here, I just make fun of them, because they think they matter here.

Plus, like yesterday, I love it when RomaBitches come here complaining that we don't bow down and be civil, especially after they come here to insult us. they expect us to be courtesy, when they show none.

It's even better when come here and report the exact opposite that is the truth, and think that they are some kind of expert on the reporting of the game or the rules when actually, they don't know jack shit. It's the curse of the RomaFuck...

  • Paolo

and if you do see me there it is becasue I am on the wind up becasue it is just too easy sometimes.

I don't really post much on any board aside from this one. If I need to vent I, I vent with other Inter supporters.

  • Paolo

to be honest I don't post anywhere else much either. If I have to vent, I vent to and with other Inter Supporters.

  • Paolo

for the record, I don't post on the roma board becasue you people don't interest me in the slightest, are annoying as hell and for the most part are incapable of having duscussion without letting your delusion get in the way.

That and anytime you offer an opinion that does't coincide with the Romanista belief system you are basically told, in no uncertain terms, to F**K off.

  • adam

Thats a good point Kasia. I like to come here and joke about Inter in the times of their misfortune, but MAD always has to over react and call people, idiots and what not. So now I refer to him with terms such as idiot and what not.

  • E

Lol johonna agreed that was a game to forget but I think they've learned their lesson and that we won't see a performance like that anytime soon

  • Kasia

MAD, just because someone does something stupid does not mean that it is fair you are justified to do so. I think that such behaviour is bad in general, no matter who acts like that.
And why are you insulting me with 'jagoff' and 'idiot'? I don't think that I deserve to be treated in such inpolite manner, thank you very much.

  • E, I tried to watch that game. Inter were a pile of shit. I sincerely hope that Mou told them so. They are adults and professionals, Mou shouldn't need to sugar coat it.

  • E

    Lol

Anyways I heard that mourinho called the inter players "pile of shit" in the dressing room after the atalanta game , how crazy would that be , I don't think there is any truth to it tho mou has too much respect for the likes of zanetti , ibra etc,, to call them that

  • MAD

"I just wish that MAD’d remember this before he posts another unpleasant and provoking post on Juve’s Offside - those’ve been really upsetting me…"

I wish that this jagoff would remember all the Juve rejects who come over here and post unpleasant and provoking posts. If there was any justice in this world I would be doing it more often to even things out.

Maybe this idiot missed the other Juve jagoff who came here during our game with Roma and tried to start something... right before everyone just ignored him as they should.

Like the RomaBitches, it's only okay when THEY do it to us...

  • it has nothing to do with you or anyone doing anything about it here. it's about putting things into perspective. when things are put into proper perspective, discussions can actually occur in a civil manner. however, that perspective (or history as you put it) is conveniently ignored and in your case dismissed.

anyway, that post was primarily intended to contest your pretty naive take on why poalo or whomever doesnt come by the roma blog to complain and it's pretty clear to most why.

  • Andres

Im gonna go to milan rob the coppa trophy and last year's scudetto and hand it to ASS roma , will that make them shut the fuck up though ? I doubt it but it's worth a try though

  • Dave

This is getting pathetic. ITS THE COPPA!!! WHO CARES?

    GET OVER IT

  • Dave

Johanna, I almost forgot your affection for Marco ;)

His problem is that he never gets the benefit of the doubt. I almost wince after every challenge he makes, expecting the yellow card.

It is useful having a guy with his size and experience. I just think that Nico, Marco, and Rivas is too much.

  • E

Lmao!!!@ your 12: 36 post Paolo they could play "joga bonito" up there I too have always likened roma fans to the gunners they're the most delusional fans you could ever find they never ever deserve to lose

Anyways roma fans need to realize that refs make mistakes ,also that the bigger team will always get favored in 50/50s and need to stop moaning like 80 years old biatches about it , It happens in every league , look at real madrid - osasuna last week end or barca - mallorca 3 weeks ago , or man utd and chelsea - anybody else in the BPL are their chairmen bribing the referees too ? I think not , sometimes it aint fair ,,,, well most of the times but that's just how footy is , has been and always will be you don't like ? Try hockey , baseball or something

  • of course it was 'only' a coppa game. i think had roma lost this because the opposition was superior on the day because of their play on the field rather than through being the beneficiary of the now ever predictable 'errors', i highly doubt there would be any reason for this kind of reaction....or for even virtually every italian paper, media outlet claiming that the game was tarnished by, yet again, (not one but two) decisive calls that affected the scoreline.

we lost to juve legitimately and i dont recall anything remotely close to this reaction or claims of conspiracy. we also lost to inter earlier in the year, and again, not even remotely close a reaction. both those games were more meaningful so it isnt at all about the coppa or the silver star like many of you tools like to conveniently claim, but it is in fact that this game, like many others involving inter over the past 2-3 seasons, stink of something rotten. its the same smell of rot that was around pre-2006 and gives every fan a reason to be suspicious since, back then, the same tune was being sung by fans, particularly the interisti, and the same "cry baby" rhetoric was being spewed back by the juventini...until of course morratti and telecom came to the 'rescue'. maybe try to use skyder's(?) much more subjective approach to analyzing the situation that exists in this league rather than repeating the same garbage that was being tossed back to you guys by juventini a few years back.

  • Great, lamagica, noted: you dont like MAD.

So dont come here and interact with him.

    Problem solved.

As for your problems with history, there is nothing I can do about what Moratti said in the past. I would like to point out that I did not say any of those things, nor can I (or anyone here) make any change to the past, present, or future of the club. Given that it is years in the past, I suggest you get over it and move on. Baring that, perhaps you should write Moratti a letter. Whatever you decide to do, I put it to you that coming here and complaining will not change anything. Why persist in a task that has no chance of a positive outcome?

  • Kasia

Yep, invading other teams' blogs, bitching and whining, throwing accusations, and generally being malicous - it's really bad. It's understandable to feel bitter, but is it really necessary to react with an idiotic post?
I just wish that MAD'd remember this before he posts another unpleasant and provoking post on Juve's Offside - those've been really upsetting me...

  • asem

    True, Jo.
    True.

  • johanna, did it ever cross your mind that maybe, just maybe, there is no reason for him to come over to the roma blog and vent his frustration on 'questionable calls' going in roma's favour to the point that it has a direct impact on the result of the game? in fact, given the old "it all evens out" line churned out here repeatedly, can you cite the last time there was a call(s) in a roma-inter game that wnet in roma's favour to the point of skewing the scoreline in our favour (ie. not talking about a foul throw violation or takinga fk before the ref blows his whistle)?

to the inter tools that continue to claim that roma are "crying", remind me again of what inter fans (led by that denture-wearing, mental midget, moratti) were doing since 1989, prior to calciopoli breaking out? it's remarkably funny (in an cynical way) how up until 2006 moratti was the loudest bitch in serie a complaining of these 'questionable calls' yet, now because his team is constantly on the receiving end of 'favourable calls' he says fuck all? he was, after all, the self-appointed ambassador of 'honesty' in calcio and claimed to be looking out for not only the best interest of his team but the integrity of the entire league (using his telecom connections to help 'resolve' these issues).

the most immediate irony is when you look back a couple of posts here and see the predictable bitching and whining by mad with some of the juve guys over calls as well as with milan fans during the derby. he's so quick to tag everyone else with the "hypocrite" tag when he needs to look no further than in his own panties to see what a true crying little twat is and, in fact, could legitimately claim rights to be the poster child for hypocrisy.

  • Daniele

    Grazie mille Jo ;)

  • LorenzoRosanero

Johonna - I must say that I deeply hate Inter. However, I have tremendous respect for you as one of the "classier" folks here on this site. As much as I hate Inter, I'm actually rooting for them when they play Roma merely based off of their tifosi here on this site. Don't get me wrong, there are several of them who are actually "good people" and bring forth intelligent discussions. However, the overwhelming lot of them are just excruciatingly annoying to the point of exhaustion. I sympathize with you all - sometimes the best answer is no answer. You can't argue with these types - I liken them to conspiracy theory enthusiasts. There comes a point where they believe anything they've set their mind upon even in direct evidence of the latter.

    Anyway, best of luck.

Oh, on a side note, for some who like to use Italian when they don't have the slightest grasp of it...please don't. You're just making yourself look even more foolish than you already are.

  • The difference, asem, is that Paolo isn't over on the Roma board saying those things. I dont care what anyone says anywhere else, but this small corner of the internet is pro-Inter. If people don't like that, they really should go somewhere else.

  • asem

    *say the things they do

  • asem

    Santon looked good yesterday.
I'd say he needs one more year before he's ready for the big-time. I really couldn't tell his position though, was it left-mid? Either way he looked comfortable on the ball and made pretty good passes.

As for the Roma hate, I can see why you would with the people that come in here and say the things you do. But when you say things like "we'll never get a gold star," you're just hurting my feelings, Paolo. hahahah. I just want a silver star for that exact same reason, I don't think we'll get 7 Scudetti anytime soon ... Silver star at least looks somewhat good.

  • Paolo

haha if it were in my power i'd take roma and arsenal, club and supporters, put them on saturn and let them have a cry fest. The could try and play some football out there if they choose.
