The decision is confirmed as the wrong one to me.

And I don’t even need anyone to tell me what to think.

And arms are generally not taken into account for offsides, I agree.

But feet are.

A., the International Board decisions explicitly state that one doesn’t take arms into account when judging whether a player is in an offside position.

I also think you will find that there is nothing about “benefit of the doubt” in either the Laws or the official IFAB rulings (though I don’t dispute the fact that it is a standard that is widely applied).

MAD, i feel your pain bro but i think its about time we look to the future and not back to the past. its done. we lost. we all vomited as if we were bulimics. teh point i’m getting at is that we shouldnt let this shit bother us too much. we’re still champions of italia and we have UCL football to look forwrd to mid-week. ac gets to look forward to some random shit team beating them in a second rate cup.

Funny, I seem to be holding nothing, physically. Philosophically I am told that I have the whole world in my hands. My car has a clutch, though. That might be the only place for straw as this is an “urban” environment.

And Kaka was definitely offsides by almost half his body, although one foot is enough. According to FIFA.

You guys keep coming over here. Are you trying to convince someone of something? Are you hoping against hope that if you keep coming over here someone will finally agree with you? One more convert for the Milan religion?

It’s not going to happen. All that will happen, however is that I will continue to be amused. I come on this website and I talk football with people or I get to laugh at other people.

It’s all win-win for me.

No MAD, you are clutching at straws. Materrazzi’s foot is the line. His own shoulders and arms are over the line too. FYI, the offside law also states that the benefit of any doubt should go to the attacker. It was a brilliant decision and more like that is needed at the top level.

By the way, the picture by patcook shows Kaka offsides.

Materazzi’s foot and shoulder is the line. Kaka’s foot is over it.

The rule reads: any part of the body over the line of the last defender is offsides. Kaka looks like he has a foot and an arm over it.
