Goodbye Stankovic, Hello Mancini

By: Johonna | June 19th, 2008

Yep, it looks like Inter are about to get another Mancini – this time with a soft “c”.

According the Corriere dello Sport, an agreement has been made between Mancini and Inter, but negations are still underway with Roma.

Mancini comes on a 4-year contract for 3.3 million euros a year. Roma would like 15 million euros for the transfer but Inter are holding for a cash-plus-player deal, possibly involving Suazo.

Although Inter have not made any official announcements, it is already on Wikipedia so it must be true.

While many Roma fans feel that Mancini is leaving purely for financial reasons – he will almost double his salary at Inter – there is some speculation that it has more to due with his deteriorating relationship with Totti. Basically, if you dont kiss “King Totti’s” ring, you are out (cf Cassano). Hopefully their loss with be our gain.

As for throwing Suazo into the deal, it is clear he will go somewhere, especially if Adriano comes back as he so clearly wants. Roma is as good a place as any. In fact, if he does go, I hope him nothing but the best. It is just a shame he never got on well at Inter.

————

On the out list, La Gazzetta is reporting that that Stankovic has an agreement with Juve for 3.5 million euros a year on a 3-year contract. The deal will bring in about 12 million euros – just about enough to secure our new Brazilian winger.

I dont think it surprises anyone that Stankovic is moving on. I am surprised to see him at Juve, though. Dejan came to Inter from Lazio in 2004, and although he was plagued by injury this last season, he was an integral member of our 2006/2007 season.

I knew this was coming, but it is still hard to say goodbye. He had his moments for us and I think, overall, he was an asset to the team.

All I can say is: Dejan, good luck and Stanks for the memories.

(I know that was corny and horrible, but if I didn’t say it, someone else would have – admit it, you were all thinking it already)

—-

Inter is still linked with Lampard, although apparently talks have stalled. Lampard would like a 4-year contract with Chelsea. Due to his age, Chelsea only want to give him a 2-year extension.

Lampard is part of the holy Chelsea trinity (with Deco and Drogba) that Mourniho has said he would like to bring to Inter. Well, Deco is not at Chelsea yet, but they really really want him.

I am not nostalgic but I really like those three players, they helped me win some great titles. I cannot forget Deco, Lampard and Drogba. These are players who I could never say no to. I would love to work with them again in the future, but I am not too obsessed with this idea. I don’t know which of these three will leave their clubs, but we will see.

I dont know if we have a hope with either Drogba or Deco. The thought is that Deco will want to follow Scolari, but if our barrel of cash is bigger than Chelsea’s, that may pull him towards Milano.

And in case you were having trouble sleeping at night wondering which Serie A player has the sexiest tatoos, wonder no more. By popular vote (last year), it is Marco Borriello (#1) then Marco Materazzi (#2).

You can see the sexy sexy ink on all the nominees here

Finally, something other than half-naked WAGs.

Ragazzi, adesso cominciamo fare la squadra !

More Inter “news” (read as unsubstantiated rumors)…

Looks like we are rumored to be closer to Quaresma….

Looks like we are meeting again with Roma over Mancini…

Looks like we are in the hunt for a Russian Zhirkov (I think I butchered the spelling on that)…

Looks like we are back in the hunt for Eto’o (I hope we lose this one)…

Nothing new on Lampard, but this might be a case of “no news = good news”…

It warms my cold heart to read stuff like this from Goal.com under the headline “5 Daftiest Summer Transfer Stories:

On the face of it there is no reason why Roma should not make their interest known in one of the continent’s most highly rated young striker. But all is not as it seems.

The one small detail missing from the story is that Roma and Ajax do not have the best relationship after the transfer of Christian Chivu to the Italian club some years ago caused a rift. The Dutch club made several complaints about the slow payment and had had to wait a couple of years before being given the money for the Romanian defender.

Rumors are rampant that we finished for Quaresma and Lampard and that Stankovic is now a Juve player. According to Goal.com the Stankovic deal cancels out the Lampard deal. I think the Quaresma deal is going to be a bit more expensive…

$27 Million is being reported as the agreed upon price between the 2 clubs for Quaresma. Quite a bit less than the $40 Million stated by the out claus that was written in his contract. All reports I have read are coming only out of Portugal.

I think the the Lampard deal cancels out Stankovic twice. Both, on the financial side of things and the level of quality on the pitch. If he signs I really hope he works out for the best.

27 millions is lower than I thought it would be. I was thinking it would be in the 35 million range.

I have to say that I am happy with the negotiations that we are pulling of. Roma is going to have to sell Mancini at cut rate or let him go free next year. Either way, it limits their summer war chest quite a bit and that makes me really happy.

    This from Goal.com:

“After intense negotiations, Inter finally gave in, and a deal has now been struck, with Porto getting €35 million, along with the registration of central midfielder Pele.”

This is what was on Channel 4 Football Italia, which seems to be the least of all evils.

    http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/jun27t.html

I usally find what they say to be accurate.

I guess we’ll have to wait until it is officially announced to find out waht all the terms were.

Hey Paolo I hope your news is accurate. I take Goal.com with a grain of salt… but it’s the worst case scenario and I am steeling myself against it.

I don’t normally do this sort of thing, but jeez can you guys imagine this:

    Gol: Julio Cesar
    Def: Maicon/Chivu/Cordova/Samuel/Materazzi/Maxwell/Burdisso
    Mid: Quaresma/Lampard/Cambiasso/Zanetti/(Mancini)/Chivu, Figo
    Att: Ibra/Balotelli/Suazo/Cruz

Hey!! We need a back up goalkeeper!!!

and hopefully a very inform and dangerous Imperatore in that list of strikers!!!!

I trust the Channel 4 site more so than anything else. I don’t even bother with goal.com. I’d rather get info from a parrot. But I still rely most on official words!

I really hope we keep Toldo. He is up there in age but he still is a Grande Portiere! He was huge in some Coppa Italia matches this past season and I am confident in his ability when he is in goal. I would be for any competition he might play in.

This from Tuttomercatoweb. from his agent regarding Toldo:

L’agente di Francesco Toldo, Andrea D’Amico, ha spiegato a TMW: “Mi risulta che Chievo ed Inter si siano parlate per Francesco, ma con noi non c’è stato alcun contatto. Valuteremo dunque in futuro se qualcuno ci prospetterà un futuro diverso da quello in nerazzurro”.

How do you know that things are going good for your team in the summer when there are no games? Here’s a clue:

    From the Juve board:

Alessio Compared all of Inter Football Society, graphically, to a pile of shit (actually it looks like soft-serve ice cream but artistic failings aside…)

Alessio then literally called Mancio, “another Inter Merda”. We can only guess how many other “Inter Merde” there are. Ideally, since we belong to Inter football society, how can we not be included, right?

Further down the page after it was learned that we are on the verge of Lampard and Quaresma, “Inter sono merda merda”. An interesting verb choice, indeed, and apparently someone who can’t use a plural, but we have now graduated to the shit-shit.

On the Roma board we have been included to their rivalry with Lazio, “INTERMERDA, LAZIOMERDA”

When the Milan boards get fired up, they are more jaded to us I think, then we can start singing…

    http://www.nonmollaremai.it/

So there are two teams who now think that we all are not just the shits, but the shit-shits… That is how you know things are going well.

Wow, MAD, you really made me work for that one. I had to get the BIG dictionary out (prospettarsi is not in 501 italian verbs!).

All that to find out that D’Amico basically said nothing.

I appreciate the challenge. Mostly I was frustrated at the agent for not saying anything. No “Toldo bleeds Black and Blue – he would never leave.” or anything.

Well, if Toldo can start somewhere else, and have the good manners not to beat us :) then I would wish him luck.

And let’s face it, besides our team, is there a cooler name than “The Flying Donkeys”?!?!

I mean, c’mon, you have to root for them!!

Back to Inter, we have a Primavera Goalkeeper with some potential. I wonder if this is the time to call him up? And I mean only if Toldo leaves. That way we will have the guy in his prime, the old vet and a youngster to groom… the perfect (in my mind) combination.

This from Gazetta, already translated :)

First Steps official between Inter and Porto for Ricardo Quaresma. Face to face, the summits of the two clubs have started to deal on the price of 24enne outside Lisbon. And from the initial 40 million would already fallen around 33 million. Signals important, but still quite distant positions do know from Palazzo Durini, given that Moratti would have given mandate to Marco Branca to close at no more than 25 million. Certainly during yesterday has not talked about technical counterparts, and then neither Suazo and neither Pelè were put on the plate of balance. At least so far.

Slittato Tuesday his meeting with Rome to define the relocation of neroazzurro Amantino Mancini. Again directives Massimo Moratti are quite clear: from neroazzurre coffers must not leave more than 10 million in cash. The Rome calls for 15 but the deal will close between 12 and 13 million.

For some reason, it appears Mourinho prefers Mancini over Quaresma. I guess Mancini has more experience but still odd to me. You’re getting one of them, it looks like, and I bet Lampard is coming too. TMW said he arrived this weekend to Milan.

Translated from tutto… Quaresma may not be totally done yet… some salt may be required:

Tuesday will start officially on football 2008, and with the new week is possible that two shots made dall’Inter become official. A few details still to be placed there, but doubts about the success of the two negotiations are allayed. With the Port there will be new contacts this week with the aim to bring down further claims of lusitani already damped considerably thanks to yesterday. Mourinho would not deprive of Pelè, which it considers an item ready to be useful from next season, and in any case we will seek ways to prevent the passage of the young midfielder to Dragoes outright. The agreement with Quaresma, however, is total. Mustang is eager to follow Mourinho in this adventure Milan, which is convinced to find the final consecration at the international level. The outside earn a figure around 4 million euros.

Chapter Lampard: The more is done. The Inter has already found some time about a month, the agreement with the exceptional British, which is convintissimo of lead in series A. Here the situation is more fluid with Chelsea since being Lampard expiring next year, Inter is in a position of strength. The nerazzurri have never forced his hand, something appreciated by the leadership of London that it is prepared to find a meeting point satisfactory to both parties.

The business, therefore, will, and the next week could be the right one to lead the first two pieces of mosaic in the time required by Mourinho, or before departure for the withdrawal summer.
