Erick- I don’t think it would of been 9 points, your sort of overestimating. Truthfully all of those calls (Parma, Empoli, and Catania.) where 50/50. Very close, “spur of the moment calls”. A professional footballer should keep his hands as far away from the ball as possible, especially in the box. That’s sort of obvious.

Johonna- I read Foot’s book, and it was quite entertaining. (It was very weird that Inter weren’t mentioned. Whatever.)

As for the ref’s, your basically just reiterating my point, mistakes will happen, move on.

You know, this whole ref debate is just about as old as the game. My partner likes English football (dont ask me why) so I also watch some of that. You know what, refs make bad calls there too. THEY ARE HUMAN! Just because someone makes a mistake doesnt mean they are corrupt.

That said, there have been, without a doubt, some “influenced” refs in calcio over the years. Read John Foot’s book Calcio for a very thorough and entertaining account of them. These match fixing scandals have involved many clubs, not just the big ones (although, there are none recounted in John Foot’s book that involve Inter – hmmm).

I think the referees should be professional. They should have to go to school and licensed the way managers are. They should earn a good wage and have their own independent federation (like UEFA).

Until then, though, we will just have to accept that being a ref is a tough and thankless job and cut them a little slack. I think if you watched every game by every team in a given season you would find that every team has been helped or hindered by a bad call at one time or another. It is just part of the game. Grow up and move on.

I’ve been an inter fan practically my ENTIRE life! And you know what? I have never been jealous like how some of you non-inter fans are! I mean, come on! Why do people get this worked up when a side that isnt theirs wins? We finally get sometime in the spotlight and people wanna find some way to steal our thunder. Thats really pathetic. You all should just stop being ignorant and realize inter’s (periodic) superiority. I was never pissed like how you all were when inter were doing horrible. So why you’ll gotta be like that fo’? God, just take it easy guys. Lets just enjoy the football for once and not get into politics.

Forza US!!! (from now on, am referring to inter as us/we. I feel like am a part of inter and thats the reason why)

There was no question about the call in the Parma game where it richocheted. Its very simple actually. His arm was up and away from his body. He attempted to clear the ball of the line with his head. He screwed up and I understand it was a attempted block that was difficlut to deal with. His arm, which is not legal for use in football, prevented the ball from going into the net. Yes it was involuntary but it doesn’t neagate the fact that it was his arm that stopped the ball after a poor, and albeit tough, clearing header failed to the job. If his arm was down, that ball was in the net. I honestly do not see a problem with the call.

If his arm was down or against his body and the ball was shot directly at him, that’s involuntary use. Unfortunaltely for Parma, and the rest of Serie A that day, that was not what happened and it was not a case of ball to hand. The player eventually admitted the ball was deflected of his arm.
