Inter 2-2 Palermo: Second Half? What Second Half?
By: Johonna | April 13th, 2009
I have been thinking about this post for a couple days now and I still dont really know what to say. Inter had a great first half. We were two up, Balotelli got a goal, Palermo couldn’t hold to possession to save their lives, Mou looked smug – everything was right with the world. And then the second half came. Within three minutes the Pink menace had equalized and … well… everything went horribly pear-shaped.
Luckily for us, Il Grifone slew the old lady later that evening. Suddenly one point didn’t look so bad.
Highlights:
Ok, I have a confession to make: I didn’t see the whole game. I know, I know, I should have my admin powers stripped and my password expunged. I apologize. To be fair, it wasn’t entirely my fault. You see, I watched until the first goal then turned it off in disgust. The game was on the DVR so it was not problem, right? Wrong. The SO, if fit of hard drive cleaning zeal, erased the game. I have it set to record again, but until then, the last 18 minutes or so of the match is a mystery. I sort of dont think I missed anything.

I somehow dont think this is Mou’s happy face.
Well, I have some indications. There are the match reports (here and here), and then the post game statements. For instance, Mou said:
“We had a lapse in concentration. It’s a pity that no one listened to what I said in the dressing room during the break. We talked about a match that seemed over at 2-0, but wasn’t. It would have been a big punishment for us if Palermo had won the match 3-2. Palermo made it hard for us today and earned a precious point. The championship is made up of moments in which you receive presents and others in which you give presents. Last week we took advantage of Juventus’ draw against Chievo, and Juventus will take advantage if they win tonight. It’s no drama if today we have a seven-point lead.”
Oh, but that’s right, THEY DIDN’T! And every Interista breathed a huge sigh of relief. Thank you Genoa and thank you Thiago Motta.
Let’s put this behind us and think to the future.
Julio Cesar is back in training. Maicon is in physiotherapy and back on track. The squad is happy and motivated. I have a very good feeling about the rest of the season – serene even.
FORZA INTER
Good for you Balotelli. There may be hope for you yet.

‘Playing with Ibrahimovic would be fantastic,’ Villa told an Italian magazine. ‘His quality, technical ability and movement could see us form a great duo.’
Or he could be alluding to Ibra+Villa at Barca.

Man, I really hope that doesn’t happen b/c that would force me to make a tough decision regarding my man-crush on David Villa and him playing at Inter…haha.

I don’t know what’s in Lippi’s cigars lately, but he thinks the title race would “re-open” if Juve win this weekend. I mean I like the guy and all, but even Juve directors said they’ll be playing for pride only.
In other (sad, I guess) news, Rivas suffered knee ligament damage during training and will be out for the rest of the season. This also means his transfer fee will go down should we plan to sell him (which I doubt).

I would not pay more than $10-12 Million for Tevez… $15 mil MAX! If we had to pay anything more than that then let him go to R. Madrid.
I am more concerned with the midfield than I am with the strikers at the moment becasue you cannot have one without the other.
David Villa is a good striker. Provided we could get players to play behind strikers he coul dbe a good option, but not for anywhere close $60 Million.

Actually what I am most concerned with is that we kick the tar out of Juventus on Saturday.
Everyone has their views on whether the title race is over or not. For me it’s not over until the math makes sense. Until then anything can happen.
I hope we kill them!

Paolo, you could prob buy Tevez’s left leg for $12 mil. If Quaresma is worth 20+ mil Euros, Tevez has to be worth 25 mil Euros.
The man is class. Every time he plays he scores. Ask a West Ham fan. The only reason he doesn’t start for ManYoo is cuz Fergi is emotionally invested in Rooney and Ronaldo. Hard to say who’s better but I think Carlos is at least as good as those two.

I would totally take Tevez for closer to 20. And Paolo, that figure for Silva was 60 million POUNDS!
Crazy mcnutter pants. No team would buy him for that.

I am probably being a bit harsh on him, but there is just something that doesn’t completely have me convinced that he can be great for Inter. Maybe it is becasue he plays in the premiership where time and space are a luxury. I don’t know what it is.
Then again, for 2 years before his arrival, I was convinced Quaresma could be great at Inter and he didn’t work out well right off the bat. I am still not convinced he has played his last game in an Inter shirt either. Just a weird feelng.
Anyhow I just hope we sort our problems in the midfield 1st. That should be # 2 priority, right after kicking the tar out of Juventus and then trying to earn enough points to secure the title.

The only reason why Man U wont sign Tevez is they have a similar player in Rooney and they just payed 30 mil pounds for Berbatov.
I gotta disagree with you Paolo. Especially if you really mean dollars and not euros. 20-25 mil euros for Tevez is worth it. I agree that a midfielder is more important though

Well, if he does ever end up in an Inter shirt, I hope you are right about him.

Tevez would have the twice the workrate of any of your lazy, selfish strikers…

It was more of a recommendation than a knock..The guy is sick good

Ha detto di essere stimolato quando il pubblico avversario la fischia. A Torino, per Ibrahimovic, di fischi se ne sentono sempre tanti…
Ibra- A me piace. Sicuramente ci saranno anche questa volta, e se fossi un tifoso juventino anch’io fischierei Ibrahimovic se avesse lasciato la mia squadra, è un grande giocatore… (ndr.: sorride).Posted from

Quaresma, are we giving up on him???? I think we should get Cassano. I think Mourinho can discipline cassano. I really think he can. If I had a choice of paying 25 million on Tevez and 14 million on Cassano, I would go for cassano. Plus he is Italian. In my opinion, he is the BEST player in Italy at the moment. We need to renew our defense as well. Don’t know how. If we can cut our squad size to 24 or 25 and get rid of high wage players like Adriano, Dacourt, Viera, Figo, Cruz. That will leave us at least another 20 million to spend on players.

Dacourt is already at blackburn. but i agree with you on cassano. he’s been amazing this year and he would be a lot cheaper than tevez

I thought Dacourt was at Fulham

Look, we all know how this game is going to pan out right?
We will get called offsides when we have a 1v1 with the keeper. It happened 4 times the last time we played.
Juve will get away with another handling in the box. It happened in the first 3 minutes of our game earlier this year. Need I remind anyone that there was no call?
Juve will be able to waltz into our side of the pitch onsides, offsides, who cares, right? Last time we played in Turin, Juventus scored from about a mile offsides.
The Juve offense will be in full force. Which means Nedved has a little cap to keep his hair dry and create as little splash as possible. My prediction is that Nedved will flop 5 times (Hey! he’s not as young as he used to be!) Whomever is taking their free kicks this time will get… 3 shots within 25 meters – 7 if they are down a goal.
Lessee… I am missing something… oh yeah. Everytime that Ibra will jump for a 50/50 ball in the air Chiellini will attempt to elbow him – no call of course, this is Juve *wink* and Ibra will be called for… uhm, 8 phantom fouls if Chiellini isn’t in the area.
Oh, and can someone tell alessio that we have been playing a 4-3-2-1 that morphs into a 4-3-3 and that we have been playing it since just after the first game in the Manu tie… so it’s been, what, over a month? I am not sure if he noticed that we have been playing a completely different formation, lately is all.
Oh and someone needs to tell some idiot on the Juve board that we have played Samp home and away in the League already. I don’t think that they can read the freakin’ schedule over there…

All valid points MAD. It seems in the last couple games we’ve been playing more of a 4-3-1-2 with Balo playing as a pure striker. Personally, I prefer the 4-3-2-1 with Balo on the left flank.
I like Santon on the left more than the right. It seemed like he was putting more pressure on himself to get forward and create

I demand 3 offside goals for Juve and a penalty. Nothing less will satisfy.
