Someone’s Got Some Splainin’ To Do
By: Johonna | October 26th, 2008
I think it is safe to assume that whatever Mou is writing in that pad of his it is not good. Mourinho is pissed:
or
Anyone who thinks only of himself and not what the team needs does not play with me. Perhaps the coach of Genoa has more power on the mentally of his players than the coach of Inter has, therefore I must prove to mine that here only one commands, [by] leaving two or three players at home on Wednesday. The next squad? Just watch today’s game with attention and is easy.
What of those who claim the squad is tired? Well, Mou says that is no excuse: “Tired – say- is the father of the family that returns home after 15 hours of work for a few hundred euros in salary. That is truly tired.”
Apparently when you are making a few hundred thousand euro a month or even a week, you need to step the f up!
If you can understand Italian, I suggest you check out the interviews here and here.
Sorry that I cannot embed them.
For those of you who missed the game, here are the “highlights” – and I use that word loosely:
ON THE POSITIVE SIDE
Yes, we dropped two very important points today, but the fact is, WE DID NOT LOOSE. Not loosing is always a plus. We may have stumbled a bit, but we did not fall.
Not all the players did terribly. Mou thinks that Quaresma “didn’t play well but he at least tried to do what I wanted. Others didn’t. And with me those who think only about themselves and not about the team don’t play.” He also liked Ibra saying that he has played fantastically game after game. Of course, there are clearly a couple whom we wont be seeing in Florence, but we will come to that later. Another strong performance came from Julio Cesar. He saved our bacon yet one more time. Were it not for him, the outcome would have been far more dire – he may well be my man of the match.

Both Robinho and Ferrari had great games. As I thought, Ferrari came to Inter and showed them what they were missing. He shut down Ibra just like he shut down Kaka earlier in the season. Maybe we will sign him yet. Robinho has always been a favorite (I have a weakness for keepers) and he was unbeatable today (much to my dismay).
AND THEN THERE ARE THE NEGATIVES
Well, first there is the obvious drop of points. Udinese and Napoli are looking fierce and Milan is gaining; if we dont start pulling away it could be a problem for our long-term plans.
Probably the worst outcome from today is Muntari’s injury. This is something that we really really dont need. I will update as Inter release information. Right now all we know is that: “He certainly won’t be available on Wednesday (away to Fiorentina). We’ve got a lot of problems in central midfield at the moment.”
We picked up 4 yellow cards today: Ibrahimovic, Muntari, Maicon, and Burdisso. Those are never good, but at least we finished with all our players on the field.
Clearly, some of the players were just not doing what Mou thinks they should have been. It seems that players were out of position. The wingers were supposed to “show range” while the centers were supposed to stay “in the same vertical plain but a few meters apart.” Mourinho saw none of that, and at 7 am on a crappy stream, neither did I. We will see what happens on Tuesday when when training starts again. I think that Obinna may get a bit of a talking to for taking shots when he should have passed, and, given the comments about the wings, perhaps Adriano. I bet Mancini starts on Thursday. Yikes.
———————-
Ok, so this wasn’t our day. Unfortunately, that makes a win against Fiorentina all the more important. But we can all stress over that later. I will leave you all with three questions:
1) Given the difference in our record this season compared to last season, do we suck more or is everyone else just better?
2) What the hell is up with Mourinho’s hair?
3) Why Is Deki stripping during the game?
Allora, Ragazzi, vado a letto, domani sarà un giorno migliore.

You’re just plain mean. I was thinking more like puppy or a scooter or a drum kit or something.
And I dont know about harsh. I do wonder, though: last year we handily beat Genoa, this year, not so much.

I think you know me well enough to know that I would never actually do such a thing.
Genoa have definitely improved and are rather quietly having an excellent season (they’ve already beaten Milan, Roma and Napoli). The addition of Milito has helped considerably, but there is more to it than just that, and their manager Gasparini is increasingly being tipped to get a shot at a “bigger” club.
As to tomorrow, I am far from confident. The team will be unbalanced without Gilardino, and I wouldn’t bet anything of value on Mutu and Santana being able to reproduce the form they showed against Palermo.

After spending Sunday afternoon with the NY Viola club, I’m even more convinced I’m the only Viola fan on earth who has faith in Santana. Just wait, Ursus!

All Viola Clubs exhibit certain characteristics of 12-step programs. It goes with the territory.
One can blame my Central European heritage, but I have a lot more faith in Kuzmanovic and Jovetic than Santana.

Hey hey! Mou says that Chivu does not have to play midfield: “But for tomorrow we have Vieira, Stankovic, Dacourt and Zanetti, and that’s a large enough group to form a team.”

Genoa is a tougher team this year, I think also.
Until we get Maxwell and a center defensive player back, I think that Chivu is going to stay in the back line. He had a great game last midweek in the Champions League game. Last weekend he was very passable.
So the list of winter exits might grow by 1, huh?
My list has Crespo and Cruz. I am holding a spot for Balotelli to go out on loan.
Coming in… Maniche again?

Or Ben Arfa if he can pass a physical?
Midfielder or defense?Posted from

I’d gladly take a midfield composed of Vieira, Stank, and Zanetti. Hopefully everything will work out for a W tom.

Cruz has been dropped for the Viola:
Portieri: 1 Francesco Toldo, 12 Julio Cesar, 22 Paolo Orlandoni.
Difensori: 2 Ivan Ramiro Cordoba, 6 Maxwell, 13 Maicon, 16 Nicolas Burdisso, 25 Walter Samuel, 23 Marco Materazzi, 26 Cristian Chivu.
Centrocampisti: 4 Javier Zanetti, 5 Dejan Stankovic, 14 Patrick Vieira, 15 Olivier Dacourt, 33 Amantino Mancini, 77 Ricardo Quaresma.
Attaccanti: 8 Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 18 Hernan Crespo, 21 Victor Obinna, 45 Mario Balotelli.
MAD, Galliani is supposed to have asked Inter for Balotelli on loan.
Moratti laughed in his face.
I seem to like him a lot more than most of the Serie A regulars on here, but even if that wasn’t the case, I’d keep him just for his ability free kicks and corners. There have been points this season when Ibra has had to take corners, which is insane.

Not just Cruz, but Adri as well – but then, he was tired or something.
So, show of hands, who thinks Crespo will actually see any field time? I think not.
I promise, I will get a preview up tonight.

didn’t I read somewhere that Adri was on disciple for something and thats why he was left off the team this week.
Crespo is a surprise. And it’s nice to see zanetti in the midfield.

Even given the non-conformist traditions of Brazilian pentecostals, it’s hard to imagine Adriano being a disciple of anything.
If Inter are losing (one can always hope . . ), Crespo will get on the pitch. I’d be surprised if he started (but Mou has surprised me before).

Sure he’s in trouble again. He, seemingly, gets his shit back together and decides to celebrate by going out drinking Sunday night. He didn’t return until 4:30 Monday Morning. How do you think his training session went and how delighted do you Mourinho was about it? He is L’Impera-Stronzo.
Crespo can only play in the Cente in a 4-3-3. He’s too slow and not creative enough to play a wing. Unless Ibra is having a really bad game or we’re go up by 2 or 3 we probably won’t see him. My hand is staying down for that one. Are we going with a 4-3-3?
I’d expect Quaresma and Mancini to Start on either side of Ibra. We better score goals.

hmmm maybe you might be right ursus, with reagrds to Crespo. Any word on the Gila’s appeal?

Gila’s appeal has been denied.
Rightly so, in my view.

Oh no, Paolo! I wonder if the boys were out for Chivu’s birthday.
Adriano needs to get married and have a baby or two – that will keep him home nights!

he has a kid, but i guess that reality shock doesnt hold him back.

Mourinho doesn’t really care about pissing off anyone in the squad, I suppose. Discipline is good, but Interistas better hope the entire dressing room doesn’t turn against him alla Roberto Mancini.
The addition of Milito has helped considerably, but there is more to it than just that, and their manager Gasparini is increasingly being tipped to get a shot at a “bigger” club.
Maybe he’ll spare your beloved Prandelli and return to Turin himself, Ursus.

Ale, I don’t think he’s going to lose the dressing room. He’s got all of the key personalities with him, and it will stay that way unless he starts not to get results (in which case he will have problems with both Moratti and the tifosit).
As to Gasperini, that was exactly the Gazzetta’s speculation on Monday, but I’m too worried about Prandelli to have mentioned it. I would be thrilled if Gasperini took over Juve.

Good to see the special one start to flex his muscle. He kicked Crespo out the first day at chelski cos he turned up late.
Hopefully some headkicking from the special one creates a better team, just not as good as milan ;p

I love his wit. He is too witty for his own good. And I cry for his hair.
Sorry, I chuckled a bit at your using of loosing instead of losing. Just in that sentence, it was too funny.

*&^%$#@ spellchecker!
Unfortunately my grammar school was hooked on phonics and I have never been able to overcome it.
And, no offense to Martha, but I think his new hair is waaaay too severe.

I didn’t know it was Chivu’s B-Day! Still, know when to draw the line. As for your suggestion Johonna, lets find him a nice girl & quick! For the sake of the club. A stable Adriano is a good thing for Inter!! Any volunteers?
I like Mourinho’s approach as well. You are there for the team. If you can’t help the team then it’s your problem. Showing up late to traning, or hung over, does no one any good. He is known as a great motivator, I don’t think he will lose control of the team. Mancio lost the room for different reasons, not for ruling with an iron fist.
I have butterflies in my stomach about tomorrow. A “W” would be massive. Let’s hope we get some big games from very small clubs tomorrow. I am talking to you Siena & Reggina. I’ll also be hoping for nothing but the best for Walter Z and his crew.

Yep, Sunday was Chivu’s birthday – hence the happy birthday in the last post.
Oh well – at least I amuse myself.

I do read the blogs! However I didn’t read the Inter Genoa preview. I didn’t see it until after the match was over and decided to jump right into the comments. My Bad!
