The Derby d’Italia

By: Alessandro | November 4th, 2007

Hi fellow Offsiders, just wanted to introduce myself. I’m Alessandro, and hopefully I can be a good source for you to all things blue and black… I don’t have much time tonight, but I wanted to get this up and going. Also, thanks to Bob for setting this all up and bringing life back to the Nerazzuri Offside!

1 Internazionale - Juventus 1
Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, Turin, Italy

It’s a little disappointing they couldn’t take full advantage of Roma’s draw with Empoli earlier in the day, but one point is better than none right? Julio Cruz put the Nerazzurri one up just ahead of the break, but a deflected Mauro Camoranesi effort rescued a deserved point for the Old Lady just 13 minutes from time.

UP
The defense and midfield (with the exception of Aparecido Cesar, who was too busy being ineffective on the wing to do much of anything else) played possibly the best I’ve seen all year, which is a great sign going into the Champions League match with CSKA Moscow on Wednesday. The attack left a little to be desired though, with Zlatan and Suazo each missing excellent chances just in front of Buffon’s net.

DOWN
Giorgio Chiellini’s vicious assault perfectly clean tackle on Zlatan, followed by his incessant taunting great sportsmanship made for some ugly final minutes. Also, both Figo and Maicon had to leave the game with foot and chest injuries respectively.

Oh thank god we’re alive again (after seeing some of the comments from those shameless Juve fans). I think you’ll do a wonderful job :D
I certainly thought that we should have won. So much wasted chances. I was sad to see Figo go off :( He was such a brilliant player. After he went down Inter lost a lot of good crosses and passes. Cesar was invisible (but I felt that with Cruz as well, yet he magically pops out to make a goal). So glad to see Chivu playing and working hard, but he seems to be losing a lot possession. I’ve gotta say, the exchange between Chiellini and Ibra is really really funny (and they both have really big noses). Zlatan was really out of focus today, maybe the excessive whistling (which he *likes*)got into his head. And Burdisso, wow, the only time I notice that he’s on the pitch is when he’s being angry and fouling (Chiellini, for Zlatan, no less).

Well one point from this game isn’t bad, and it was so exciting!

Zlatan definitely let the pressure and hate get in his head — he looked like a lost little kid out there.

(And thank goodness this site is alive again — welcome, Alessandro!)

i blame Mancini for the draw. Ibrahimovic doesnt have to always play the full 90 mins. He could’ve left Cruz playing and substitute Ibra for Suazo. since there was too much pressure on Ibra.

and just like Cordoba said “We lost two points”
but its not a big deal. we can do it

But what about poor Figo?!? Undergoing surgery for a fractured fibula and bound to be out for months. Now we have no Marco, no Figo, and for Champions League, no Burdisso. Can we cope?

Yeah, Figo needs to retire because we all know that age slows down that jumping reflex needed when a guy sweeps both legs out from behind you as hard as he can when you are not looking…

Great win over Fenerbache. 4 champions league wins in a row is a good sign for better things to come!

No, the blog writer got up and moved to Buenos Aires. Just like you Interista Merdas should. It’s a shorter commute from home->stadium.

Chant with me “Primera division! Primera division!”
