Tu sei tutto quello che
By: MAD | July 17th, 2009
This was supposed to be just a regular post that was going to go on the bottom of the last blog entry. But I got a little carried away, the way I always seem to around this time of year. As I always seem to about this subject.
I know that foremost in our minds is the incredible, never to be imagined or thought of transfer of Ibrahimovic for Eto’o. The future, at the moment, looks promising to some, unsettling to others and downright scary to yet more. I am not feeling any of these things right now. Maybe it’s because like a few of you, I remember the late 80s and the 90’s when trading superstar for superstar was a dream, really. We were worried about survival, not which megastar we wanted to start the season with.
But right now, all I can think of is…
July 18th 1942 saw the birth of one Giacinto “Cipe” Facchetti.
Boy, Man, Player, Captain, International, Champion, Technical Director, Ambassador, President and Legend – that was his life at Inter. He was the only one to be all these things and he was much more to those of us who suffered so long in the eighties, nineties and early 21st century. He was the best of us. No one will ever wear the #3 shirt again. It’s the only one that has ever been retired or will ever be retired from this club.

Cipe died on the 4th of September 2006 at the young age of 64 from pancreatic Cancer while serving as the President of this club. He was the first to welcome Zanetti to Italy. He brought new life, new light and a new era to this club, rescuing us from our darkest time. He was the one that made sure that we didn’t go down the dark paths that others did.
He left us far too soon.

He played 634 games for Inter – 18 years of service – was capped 94 times for the National team and was sent off once, in his whole career.
He was a 4 time Scudetto champion, 2 time European Cup Champion (now the UEFA Champions League), 2 time European Cup runner-up, 2 time Intercontinental Cup Champion (now the World Club Cup), Coppa Italia Champion, Euro 1968 Champion (the only one in Italian history), 1970 World Cup runner-up.

Thats funny MAD, cause I thought Ibra would score 17 goals (he scored 25), its a prediction.
You thought Quaresma will be “phenomenal”, its a opinion.

Lol this is what Ibra just posted on his twitter:
“I have won everything in Italy, its time to move on! I want the champions league title!”
This sucks

Really nice post, MAD. Dave, I would be careful. As with anything, there are, because of his newsworthiness, lots of Ibras Tweeting.
Oh, and we’re thinking in Barca-land that the real reason for the Eto’o/Ibra deal and the cash is to give you all enough dosh for the Xabi Alonso assault, since we don’t want him going to the Evil Empire, a.k.a. That Other Spanish Team.
Yes, I’m kidding. Xabi Alonso, however, would be a hell of a grab for you all.
And I watched a lot of Inter footy last season, thanks to Fox Soccer, and Mourniho is right about midfield creativity. Quaresma wasn’t the guy to bring that around, however. Strangely enough, Hleb and/or Alonso would definitely be.
And if this oft-discussed deal goes through, your mids will see how it is to have a guy who runs around like a fiend to make himself available for passes, rather than standing in one spot waving his arms, as too many strikers do.

dave don’t worry about that twitter, its fake. i looked for one the other day and found http://twitter.com/zlatans_offical which another website found to be fake. http://www.kullin.net/2009/06/zlatan-ibrahimovic-on-twitter.html

Fake tweet or not, here was my reply:
@zlatans_offical why do you have to leave italy to win one? Why can’t you win it with Inter? Why couldn’t you win it while @ Juve?
Just want to see if I could generate some sort of response

Adam, I have made predictions here – but I rarely do it for transfers. I have seen to many of them fail. I always **try** to qualify my statements.
On the other hand you make predictions like statements, usually to try to sting us – as though we give a shit what you think anyway – as though to disagree with them we would be factually wrong.
I don’t really care if people agree with me, I just give an opinion. Actually I can usually can get a nice discussion here with these nice people when they don’t agree with me.
But I have made predictions – rarely, but I have.
I predicted that Juve would commit a handling offense agaisnt Inter and not get called on it. I was right – several times that game, actually.
I predicted that Inter would get called offides when they weren’t when we played Juventus. I was right several times.
I predicted that Juventus would win the game we played in November last season because it was an important game and they wouldn’t spare the expense. I don’t know how much they paid for it, but I was wrong that Juve would win.
See, I have no problem admitting my mistakes. I make plenty of them. I am probably making one right now by feeding you, the troll. But, it’s a weakness I have, laughing at foolish people.
Did I also mention that you were wrong when you mockingly predicted that Maicon would be out for the rest of the season back in March or April?
I knew then that he would be alright…

I thought some of you here might appreciate this: I was at the Sounders v Chelsea friendly today and, a the half, a shortish player came on with long blond hair and wearing the #7.
Well, the people sitting behind me starting complaining about him right away, saying: “what a douche! That guy with the blond hair is the epitome of the word Douche.” Then went on to complain about how he was always offside and couldn’t put a ball on target to save his life. Towards the end of the game, they started asking around our section if anyone knew who this guy was.
I, the ever helpful one, turned around and said: “That is Andrei Shevchenko.”
To which they replied: “That cant be him, Shevchenko is good.”Which made me laugh and laugh.
Poor sheva and carvalho, they had to play with the kiddie team. Of course, Chelsea still totally kicked our ass. Oh well.

There doesn’t seem to be anything new on the Ibra – Eto’o deal.
Everybody looks like they are getting their breath back after the shock and turmoil of the last few days.
Ibra, Marotta and Eto’o are looking like they are going to try to get every last penny/concession they can in the next month of negotiations.
I wonder if we have forgotten about getting rid of the surplus that Mourinho wants gone…

And did you all see this:
http://www.daily-calcio.com/index.php?option=news&task=viewarticle&sid=23191Quote from Mancini:
“I think and I want to stay here because I want to win after last year that was negative for me. I hope to be a protagonist and then I’m happy at Inter. I have no intention of changing shirt.”
Argh. Saddled with him, Rivas, and Vieira. Why. Wont. They. GO?!?

this is a bit late but I wanted to post something on Cipe. Thanks for the excellent write up MAD!
I wish I could say, “Cipe, Uno di noi!” But really he isn’t one of us. Nope, rather we are one of what he is, or at least we try to be. He is what current players/personnel that are dedicated to Inter (should) aspire to be.
I can’t begin to comment on on his playing ability because I, aside from videos, have never seen him play. However I have heard all the great things about him from family and friends who have witnessed the legend/master/pioneer at work. Stories that make me wish I could have seen him play.
He represents everything I love about the sport and Inter!
Forever as big a part of Inter as the famous black and blue stripes, it is up to us, the supporters, to keep the memory of Giacinto alive!
As Moratti said in a letter to him, “Thank you again for having honoured Inter, and with her, all of us.”
Solo e Sempre Inter!!
