Um…. I Guess I Should Write Something Already

Just because we are on an International break doesn’t mean that I can totally slack off. True, there is not a whole lot to talk about, but those of you who have been around here for a while know I rarely let that stop me. Oh, and the picture has nothing to do with anything, I just liked the composition.

First off: International Call-ups

Thanks to the insanity of Maradona and some untimely injuries, we only have 10 players out of town these next two weeks (all times are local):

Italy U21: Mario Balotelli
— Italy v Bosnia Herzegovina (Mantua, Tuesday 13 October at 21:00)

Italy: Davide Santon
— Ireland v Italy (Dublin, Saturday 10 October at 20:00)
— Italy v Cyprus (Parma, Wednesday 14 October at 20:50)

Brazil: Julio Cesar, Maicon
— Bolivia v Brazil (La Paz, Sunday 11 October at 16:00)
— Brazil v Venezuela (Campo Grande, Wednesday 14 October at 18:00)

Slovenia: Renè Krhin
— Slovakia v Slovenia (Bratislava, Saturday 10 October at 20:30)
— San Marino v Slovenia (Serravalle, Wednesday 14 October at 20:30)

Romania: Cristian Chivu
— Serbia v Romania (Belgrade, Saturday 10 October at 20:30)
— Romania v Far Oer (Piatra Neamt, Wednesday 14 October at 21:00)

Serbia: Dejan Stankovic
— Serbia v Romania (Belgrade, Saturday 10 October at 20:30)
— Lithuania v Serbia (Marijampole, Wednesday 14 October at 21:00)

Columbia: Ivan Ramiro Cordoba
— Colombia v Chile (Medellin, Saturday 10 October at 17:00)
— Paraguay v Colombia (Asuncion, Tuesday 13 October at 18:00)

Cameroon: Samuel Eto’o
— Cameroon v Togo (Yaonde, Saturday 10 October at 15:30)
— Cameroon v Angola, friendly (Olhao, Portugal, Wednesday 14 October at 20:30)

Honduras: David Suazo
— Honduras v USA (San Pedro Pula, Saturday 10 October at 20:00)
— El Salvador v Honduras (San Salvador, Wednesday 14 October at 18:05)

Holland: Wesley Sneijder
— Australia v Holland, friendly (Sydney, Saturday 10 October at 19:30)
(this one totally ticks me off. All the way to Australia! For a FRIENDLY! Crazy. He better not come back injured.)

Milito and Lucio were also called up but are too injured to go. Word on the Argentina blog is that Zanetti is in Buenos Aires anyway (and I think it may be true because he certainly isn’t in any training pictures) just to watch the game.

Personally, I think it is a bit of a tragedy that Pupi wasn’t even called up. The folks over that the Argentina blog have been saying that Maradona dropped him because he wasn’t “loyal enough” (whatever that means), but that seems so unlike Pupi. Even Cordoba thinks it is odd. He had a little interview with FIFA about his upcoming WQ Qualifiers where he was asked about Argentina’s struggle to qualify, Cordoba said:

..

“To be honest, I’m more surprised that Zanetti was left out of the squad than I am about Argentina’s overall situation. They can still qualify, but I’m sorry to see that such a great captain and genuine person like Javier won’t be involved. He wanted to be in the thick of it, he’s not someone who disappears when the going gets tough. He’s a friend and a role model to me.”

Man. I want Argentina to qualify because I think they are a great footballing nation, but I hope Maradona crashes and burns. No one treats my Pupi like that, no one (fist shaking).

What Next

Well, the days are getting shorter and here in Seattle I had to turn the heater on last night so it must be time for… MERCATO MADNESS

Yep, nothing screams International Break like stupid transfer rumors – especially given that the market doesn’t even open for another three months. So….

Brazil Wcup Soccer
Now, I have nothing against Adriano, but if JC wants brains he may be going after the wrong person here.

Maicon’s agent is still harping on about all the huge clubs that want him. Last time it was Real Madrid, now it is Manchester United.

Susana Werner inadvertently brought down a media storm around when she made an off-hand remark in her personal blog that ManU had also been bombarding her husband, Julio Cesar, with offers. She has been quick to back peddle saying that she only brought it up because it means he is a good keeper and she is proud of him (fair enough). He has “denied everything” and Branca is working on a new contract for him. So, miniature made up crisis averted, whew.

Liverpool has apparently shown interest in Rene Krhin, but he has “no intention of leaving Inter” and will sign a new contract in the next few months. I have no problem with this – he is a promising young kid and I would like him to stick around.

Everyone that hasn’t gotten a whole lot of playing time yet is supposedly leaving in January (Vieira, Quaresma, Mancini, Suazo, Arnautovic). Ya, ’cause after ten games (counting supper cup) everyone can already see who will play the next 40 or so, right (estimating here, kids, dont rip on me for having the wrong number of total games)? Cripes. Funnily, the only actual player who has said they are thinking about leaving is the one of the bunch who is actually playing somewhat regularly (that would be Vieira).

Oh, and also now Muntari’s agent is supposedly in talks with Tottenham. I know he has had a couple not so stellar games, but I would hate to lose him after only one year. I quite like him.

And here is a little bone for MAD: according to a headline at La Gazzetta, Inter likes Gallopa:
gallopa

MOVING ON

During these two “off weeks” Mourinho has a whole passel of youth players training with the first team. Everyone has been preparing for a friendly this Saturday against Piacenza (at the Stadio Leonardo Garilli in Piacenza on Saturday 10 October, 4pm local time). I have no idea if the game will be broadcast, but I will do my best to find out for you all.

Thiago Motta is working his little heart out (double sessions today), as is Milito (who wants be ready for the game against Kiev on the 20th), but despite their best intentions, probably neither will be back until November. Grrrreeeeaaaaat.

No word recently on Lucio but I dont think his injury was that serious.

Well, I guess that is enough to keep us all occupied for another couple days.

FORZA INTER

And I leave you all with the almost unbearable cuteness of Jose Mourinho at a “press conference” with children. It is in Italian, but here is a barely passable translation of some of it. Really, it is tons more lovely than they make it out to be.

“we sure as hell can beat barca no matter how good they are”- No you cannot.

“I love my team too much to watch them fail again in Europe, I will not allow that”- That’s the spirit widdle boy, you go and make a difference.

Good to see that a certain co-blogger here still encourages participation on the blog. Btw, when are you writing your next article MAD? I print them out and take them into my Professional writing class so that we can all take out the tautologies, nominalizations and cliche`s, so thanks for that, my tutorer and classmates loves you

ive been an inter fan for 15 years now, no.1 thing that i learn through this time is :
continuity is the key to success, one thing that our beloved president has learn the hard way(i’m just glad that he learn), i remember the pain of defeats(the 6-0 by milan for some reason pope up), beeing so close to winning the scudetto(that shitty may day).

yet now we’re living in an era of inter domination(domestically at least), to a degree that some of us seem to think that winning the scudetto isnt enough anymore..
just remember, in the past 4 years we’ve gone to 13 to 17(tie with the devil now) and soon to be 18 :) (next year) we dont have that inferior feelin towards anybody in the country anymore
Remember a change DOES NOT guarantee success, please dont take all our success lately for granted, we’ll never know when it’ll come again..

I don’t like the Krhin to Lazio rumor too much.

If there is any truth to the Pandev to Inter rumor then I would prefer a straight cash deal. We ought to be getting something for Vieira when he leaves, yes? I say we use that.

wow you know what if there was ever a good reason for getting rid of the “No personal insult” policy on this blog that D***head Antonio pretty much ticks off all the boxes. The fact that you would actually waste that much time and effort into bashing mad’s writing and showing it to the rest of your so called “professional” writing class is pretty fucking sad. Not even people like Jorid or Nnahoj go to those lengths, yet again you are a bilanista who is still in the denial stage so thats not a big surprise.

Give up Krhin? No way! The reports floating around do say we’re offering to the tune of 4-5m + 2 youngsters on loan, but with Muntari going off on ACON duty, Paddy being likely to leave, and Motta being made of glass, I think we’re going to need Krhin.

And MAD, I think we’d have to pay someone to take Paddy off our hands. :P Seriously though, with his contract ending this season, no one will be willing to pay for him. Heck, clubs (read Juventus, Bayern) are waiting for Pandev’s contract with Lazio to expire, when Pandev is just 26 and a couple of years away from his prime. Paddy’s way past it, and expecting cash from his departure is pure fantasy. We may not even recoup the last bit of his salary, the old git may demand a golden handshake on top of everything.

Also, sammy makes a great point – we’re getting spoilt too fast. We of all people shouldn’t take success too lightly, given the time intervals between our winning periods. A Scudetto is still a prestigious achievement, and demands consistency far superior to what a cup competition needs.

To tell you the truth I never wanted mancini to leave inter, he brought us to much joy. I don’t care what people say about the CL exits and about how the calciopoli helped mancini in getting all those trophies…he still built us a solid inter… he brought many players and made a great squad which had an 17 match winning steak… broke many records, even reached 4 tim cup finals….he was a great coach and what he needed was time and thats what morrati gave him…
But, when a coach comes out and wants to quit… and when he cant even handle the locker room… then its hard to coach a team like inter.
And when it was time for mancini to leave inter the only way i would accept it was if he was replaced with mourinho.

Don’t judge mourinho in his first year…don’t excpect him to win the CL right away, give him time, he is building the squad, we are still dominating Seria A, and with time we will improve in europe. and with mourinho’s character we don’t need to worry about the locker room, no player will start kicking bottles after being subed.

I don’t even think that he has to win the Champions League.

Just getting past the group stage and going out in the round of 16 got us in the top 10 paydays of all the teams that participated. Plus, since we got more money than the rest of the Italian teams there we maintained an economic advantage over the rest of Serie A.

All we have to do is finish high enough that we can make enough money from this thing to help finance the cost of running this machine. To me, that’s all the Champions League is good for – extra financing.

If/when we get our own stadium, that we can sell to advertisers – that won’t have to change every other game – and we can collect all the gate for ourselves and not have to pay rent… when we do all that and then go into the round of 16, or the semi-finals, then we will be making money…

Pablo aimar to inter ? That has always been a dream of mine , i’d love it if that happens , he is a world class playmaker without a doubt I wonder why valencia didn’t try harder to hang onto him anyways Inter forever is this anything concrete or are the papers bullshiting us as they always do during international breaks ?

Yep, Thau. So the old git has finally made it clear that he prefers earning a fat paycheck over making it to the World Cup for the last time. Pity, since Domenech loves his old ass so much, he makes Vieira the captain if he’s in any condition to string two passes together.

E, I used to love Aimar’s style of play back when he was at Valencia. But somewhere something must have gone wrong. You don’t just move from Primera title contenders and Champions League hopefuls to relegation battlers to the Portuguese league unless something’s wrong with your play. There must be a reason why Aimar’s career has moved downwards, though I don’t know it.

vinod zaragoza werent exactly a relegation battlers ( diego militto , gabi millito , oliveira , aimar , pavon , cesar , garcia , luccin etc.. all were on that team ) they actually were tittle contenders but something went wrong somewhere , and the reason he left valencia in the first place was due to contract issues
so after zaragoza got relegated he moved to benfica and went off the radar due to injuries but he seems to be back to his best hence why he got a recall to the albiceleste ( with who he played suberbly last week end )

if we can bring him on the cheap then we should do it with our eyes closed , aimar is class and will bring a lot of creativity to our midfield imagine
    aimar cambiasso zanetti
    sneijder
the other team might as well write “defeat” on their team sheet because no freaking way they’re winning

Sorry i don’t have the english link.

it says that Lazio is willing to offer the 20 mil euros of the clause so they can get him on january

“Lotito asked me about Aimar and we agreed to meet in Rome on november so we can discuss”, confirmed Mascardi to the portuguese Diario de Noticias.

I like the idea of Aimar but players like that (creative, injury prone, questionable mentality) tend to flop at Inter.

    Two things:

If he did come from what I know about him, its more likely we’d see:
    Sneijder Camb Motta
    Aimar

Which could be great. But with 3 outta the 4 being injury prone, it doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence.

And the second thing is: “Lazio is willing to offer the 20 mil euros” HAHAHAHAHAHA Lazio hasn’t seen 20 mil euros all in one place in a decade. The only way they could get that money is if they sold Zarate and that’s not likely to happen anytime soon.
