We Won – Yippee!
By: Johonna | July 30th, 2009Inter took on AS Monaco today and we actually won! True, it wasn’t spectacular and everyone looked a little sleepy, but at least it shows that the team is beginning to gel. Plus, trophies are always nice (and this one is big and shiny). The game finished Inter 1 – 0 AS Monaco, with a lovely little goal from Milito (assisted by Muntari). Highlights after the jump.
Here are some “highlights.” The video is a little weird but the goal is thoroughly covered.
I know, the video is a little funky, but it was the best I could find. Milito seems to be finding his connection with the team and Julio Cesar is on it. With this win, Inter are 2, 1, and 2 for the preseason (did I do that right? 2 wins, 1 draw, and 2 losses). Not a stellar performance but something to build on. And boy howdy, it could so be worse.
On the transfer front, Hleb decided he would rather return to the safety of the womb and has chosen to go back to Stuttgart instead of Inter. Meh. In the long run, it is probably for the best. Inter get 3 million more euro, Moratti will be forced to go after a more talented midfielder, and I dont have to remember how to spell his name (Aliaksandr – Yikes). Everyone wins. Especially when you take a look at some of the names popping up: Wesley Sneijder (Real Madrid), Deco (Chelsea), and just today Pablo Aimar (Benfica) and Ivan Rakitic (Schalke 04). Rakitic has just injured himself so he may come cheaply, plus they may take Obinna in return. Pablo Aimar, on the other hand, is Argentinian and everyone knows how much we like our Argies.
So, take what you will from that. Inter desperately need a #10 and it seems Cassano is out of the equation. Time to look elsewhere.
As for me, I will be going up to the mountains for a few days so will be out of computer and, for the most part, cell phone range. I will be back Wednesday to wrap up everything I missed over the weekend.
Forza Inter
Welcome to the club, Samuel!

hahahahha Arsenal would faster get relegated than Inter, especially with their inability to hold on to anyone older than 12. so you know what? Shut Up Voyeur!!!
i was really hoping inter signed arna today… damn it! i should learn not to get my hopes up.

hahaha an arsenal fan came here!
i would prefer Cassano, Deco, and Sneijder to Van der Vaart, but we should definitely sign someone.

ajay, the text thing has been denied by ebody at this point. Probably a grain of truth in it but who cares at this point?
Interesting story on FCInterNews.it about how we had no chance to sign VDV until Ibra left. Apparently bad blood left over from their Ajax days. In the video for that infamous goal Ibra beat 5 people and scored at Ajax they show VDV injured in the stands and it looks like he’s gonna be sick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vz5VL3mcso4

I just had a quick look at van der Vaart’s wiki page.
It looks like he’s been injury prone in the past, although recent years show that he’s been relatively healthy.
How does he play? Is he any good or are we going after damaged goods?

He proved nothing at Madrid. I dont want him

Sneijder is a better choice I believe. Either way a little Dutch fusion might be good for the squad.

remember how smauel and cambiasso provided nothing at real? i have no problem signing real rejects. they seem to work well for us.

I’ve seen at a few different places that Ladesma is done at Lazio…he would be a pretty good addition

I said it earlier this summer, our Mercato should seriously examine Madrid. They need to sell, and everyone knows it. There are bargains. Last time we got Samuel, Figo and Esteban for next to nothing. Real are stupid, Inter should capitalize.

in my memory i dont think that a dutch player is ever succesfull play for Inter, ive been a fan since like ‘96-97 when Bergkamp was around, and he failed miserably, and look how good he is @ arsenal, the names could go on and on, winter, seedorf, vander mayde. there is just something bout the dutch that maybe make them not suitable for this club (contrast that to an Argentinian), for me the best bet is still cassano, or some french playmaker( gourcuff anyone?) and how could we miss on javier pastorre? they said he’s the Argentinian KAKA, sound perfect for Inter eh..

SNEIJDER TO INTER!!!

According to La Gazetta Real and Inter have come to an agreement over Wesley Sneijder.
As we all should know, there is no actual deal unless the player agrees to the move – which hasn’t happened yet.
The agreement between the two teams is a one year loan for 4 million Euro, with an option for Inter to buy next year for 18 million Euro.
Again, everything depends on whether the player agrees on the transfer. Otherwise, this looks like a decent deal and certainly in keeping with this mercato.

I know Sneijder has a great shot especially as a free kick taker, but is he really natural “playmaker”?…
We have now “almost” added another player with nobody having left to depart from our roster…

Sneijder was pretty bad last season but his 1st season with Real was world class. I bet this move will do him well if it happens.

Alright ricci, if you had to pick one (for Inter’s needs) out of Van Der Vart or Sneijder who would it be and why?

vDv is more of a “playmaker” than sneijder. and we also have stankovic, who has very similar attributes to sneider. two footed, good shot, and good passing ability. VdV however has better touch, vision and passing ability, the problem is whether he will remain fit the whole season. Vdv should also come for considerably less. i think for about 5million(not sure), now thats a deal!!! compared to the 18million real are asking for sneijder.
but there are loads and loads of players out there other than these two.
ribery, ben afra, lavezzi, giovinco, hamsik, cassano, van persie, robben, silva, aguero, to name a fewPosted from

I’ll take Sneijder over VDV. Hamsik would be my first choice by far

I’m familiar with all the above mentioned players but haven’t really had the chance to keep up with La Liga the last season or two.
From what I’ve read, it appears VDV has a problem with being consistent. I’d rather have a player who is less fantista and more consistent than the inverse. I’ve got a lot of faith in the ability of Eto’o/Milito to take their chances.
Dave, I think Hamsik would be great but it’s not looking like he’s moving this summer. Maybe Inter could throw Napoli a couple of players on loan for first refusal on Hamsik next summer.
