Welcome to Sucksville
By: Johonna | October 29th, 2008
That was grim. Grim and horrible and awful and terrible. Ok, so maybe I am being a little melodramatic with the picture above, but that is how it feels right now. For those of you who are looking for a real recap, with stats and junk, go see Channel 4 or Goal.com or something. I feel like I may be setting in for a good wallow. I mean, really, doesn’t this feel a bit like 2003?
Here is what Mou has to say about the whole thing (or at least the parts I found interesting):
We haven’t won our last two matches, but we haven’t lost. We have faced two very organized teams. Two teams with great players and two very competent coaches. I’m obviously not satisfied with the draw tonight because I always want to win, but I return to Milan without anything to criticize my players for.
If there’s a cup for autumn champions, we have lost it, but if there’s a cup for who wins the Scudetto in May, then we have a great chance of winning it. I can’t predict the future so I can’t say we will be champions, but I have faith in my team and the work we are doing. [ppffft].
The statistics aren’t important. I haven’t been able to field the same team for two or three consecutive games since the start of the season. [double pffft] If the team doesn’t win, the responsibility is mine alone, but I go home a happy man because my team played a tough match with the maximum effort, and they played like a team. [that and a euro will get you a shot of espresso]
I think Quaresma should be rated for what he has done since he arrived in Italy, not for the ten minutes he played tonight. I have known him for four or five years. I know what he can do and he will do it. I’m sure of this. He’s not playing very well at the moment, so the criticism is fair.
I’m very happy with Maxwell’s return. It was extremely positive. He played ninety minutes at a high level. [finally, something good]
So, to recap: the team played like a team but were still crap. We are foundering (shudder) MID-TABLE and I am eying up a second bottle of wine (for medicinal purposes only). Crespo played a bit today but failed to make any impression. Really, the only bright moment we had was the first 10 minutes and the brief moments of 4-4-2. Oh well. That is the beauty of football: in three days we get to go through all this again. You never know, next time we might win!
FORZA INTER

Oh, and the winter transfer season is still a couple months away but:
Inter have signed a pre-contract agreement with Fluminense midfield Thiago Silva according to Corriere dello Sport.

Yeah, it would be 28. But it’s too awful to even contemplate. I’m much happier when their number goes down.
The Thiago Silva story has been around for at least four months. If they are all true, he’s signed more pre-contracts than JK Rowling at Barnes & Noble.

And does this mean the end of Marco and maybe Samuel?

If you put yourselves in our shoes just for a second, then you will be overjoyed again.
I know you are used to winning every freaking game for the last 3 yrs but almost every team in Seria A improved….but La Magica!Posted from

Cheaters are as cheaters do, Alessio.
The stars on the jersey are an “on-your-honor” thing. It would totally make sense that Juve would do something so dishonorable as discounting the revoking of two league wins and putting three stars on their jersey.
Just one more entry on the list of Juve’s dirty deeds.
Go for it.Posted from

Well when the revoking is bullshit…sure, go ahead and discount them. Doesn’t help when your archrivals control the FIGC and make sure you don’t get a fair trial by blackmailing the entire nation. Inter complaining about Juve in those years is exactly like Romanistas complaining about Inter now, sore losers. Capello stomped his way to those wins, as ugly and “undeserved” as they were. Ahhhhhhh calciopoli.

Hey Ursus! You live in Milan… Where you “blackmailed?”
And I dont speak for Inter, I speak for myself. I think adding the star would be dishonorable. Even if you dont agree with the FIGC’s ruling, adding stars to the jersey is a convention that all the teams agree to. If Juve add a third star with their next scudetto win (far far in the future), then it is just one more thing to show that Juve thinks they are above the rules (or conventions, as the case may be).
It is creepy.

“Inter complaining about Juve in those years is exactly like Romanistas complaining about Inter now, sore losers.”
PFFF! What’s worse is Juventus fan bases trying to spin it around (and actually believeing the spin), coming up with stories accusing Inter, Moratti, Tronchetti etc… of being the masterminds behind the whole thing and Juventus really had nothing to do with it. That was even bigger joke than Roma… who, by the way, fell short of their dreams and decided to continue playing the “Cheating Card” becasue it what was most convenient to them & they can never admit they just don’t have what it takes. Way to not let an issue go and trying to make people believe the league was still a joke. We had to hear them speak about some Karma crap last season. See what Karma has done tot hem this season?
If, God fordid, Juve win the title and put a 3rd star, before it’s time, on their shirt it would be slap in the face to the sport. I 100% agree with Johonna when she says, “If Juve add a third star with their next scudetto win (far far in the future), then it is just one more thing to show that Juve thinks they are above the rules.” It would be a disgrace and a constant reminder of the whole situation which really was a Black Mark on the league. A mark that is slowly being washed away as we speak.

MAD, can you shoot me an email over at acmilan@theoffside.com. I need to pick your brain on your Fachetti knowledge for this upcoming Maldini Monday post.

Johonna, by blackmail I meant the FIGC threatened to cancel all Azzurri games unless the brand new (of about a month) Juventus board caved to their demands. Italy was already hostile enough against us, imagine if we were the reason Italy couldn’t go to the Euros. Even if you think Juventus was utterly and completely guilty, you cannot deny the FIGC was out to immediately “solve” the scandal, they had zero intention of letting Juventus properly defend itself.

Sorry. About once a month my suppressed anger about Calciopoli boils to the surface. You guys just happen to be the unlucky ventees this time.

ale, one thing i have learned in this life is not to dwell in the past. if you spend all your time there, you will spend no time in the future. what ever happened, happened and couldnt happen any other way. we cant change to past so its best to forget about it if its shitty. dont let shit bother you my man!

Alessio is one of my favourite people on the entire site, but on this particular subject he has always reminded me of one of those guys who is still trying to re-fight the Civil War (or rather the War Between The States). I tend to read those posts of his with a drawl.
I’ve said this before, but I think we would have to leave the country if they ever got the third star. It would be intolerable for a long time.

Ugh. I live among those people, I think that’s a bit harsh of a comparison. One is a matter of life and death, the other is arguing about a 140 year old war that we (that’s right, we) won.

I of course took both your academic location and your inate Yankee-ness into account when crafting the comparison.
And yes, it’s a bit harsh. Only a bit, though.

Shouldn’t that have been: The War of Northern Aggression considering that alessio is in Tulane?

Yessir…only 30% of the school are from the South, people from the Northeast actually outnumber them and then of course there’s a significant amount of people from out West. The strange thing is I’ve learned, MAD, is Rochester is far more mid-Western than it is Northeast. Can you believe people from NYC have never heard of euchre?

Reggina preview tonight, but…
Considering the call-ups, I think it is safe to say that this:
Zanetti, Stankovic, Vieira,is our midfield. And since there are only 3, I bet Chivu finds his way up there again. That makes me very very nervous.
Still no Adriano or Cruz.
For those of you in the US – Happy Halloween!

Euchre are a team from the regionalised French fifth division . . .
MAD, Louisiana in general (and New Orleans) in particular, isn’t hardcore revisionist history territory.
Now, if he was going to Clemson . . .

Actually I did know that, alessio, from my own college days. By the way, my partner and I would finance our school lunches on Euchre, we were so good/so poor.
Having lived in Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Cleveland for far longer than any human should, I would have to say that I partially agree (my brother in law very much agrees with you, but he likes Cleveland) about the midwest thing.
Buffalo is definitely 100% no questions asked midwest rustbelt no doubt. If you lived in the outskirts of Monroe county (where Rochester is), I would agree with you there, too.
But I would say that living in the Rochester area almost makes you forget about being thisclose to the midwest and Syracuse…

Yeah, Louisiana and New Orleans is more “fuck the Feds” than anything now. Ancient history takes deference to current.
Having lived in Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Cleveland for far longer than any human should
That seriously made me laugh out loud, haha.

Jo, as much as I hate to say it, your scudetto chances are not dead, not by a long shot.
URRR that hurt to say! Happy Halloween to you all.
you know? that comment could be considered your treat this year Interistas… or maybe a trick.
